Spider, to clarify a bit,.. in relation to my comment, its ok to suggest perhaps a donation box for your efforts, hard work should be rewarded where possible.
Though in the last case, it was to be used, to buy the fellow a Expo first, so that he could port Droid onto it for us all to use after.

Entirely for the wrong reasons, to say the least.

WR

Yeah I followed the thread regarding randomblame asking for the money. I have no problem donating (if I can) to someone who has produced good work to show my appreciation, but I'm not going to donate to someone who doesn't even have the means to produce the work in the first place.

It's like telling someone you'll mow their yard for free, but you need a donation to buy the lawn mower first. lol

Is anyone doing Android development?  I am beginning to think it will never happen and am considering switching to a new phone, especially since I see windows phone 7 won't support tethering.  So in 1 year this phone will stink and be stuck on wm6.5 only.

I am not sure I understand your reasoning. I can use my expo to do everything I need it to. What additional functionality do you think windows 7, android or the iphone can bring to a mobile phone? Integrating social media? Dude is it so hard to just open the facebook app?

If you want aesthetics then windows mobile is the ONLY os on which you can change the UI. You can make it look like android (Androkkid) or the iphone (iPhone today) you can use alternative UIs like SPB Mobile Shell and Wisbar. As far as eyecandy goes WM beats the pants off all of them.

The only big drawback for windows mobile 6.5 at the moment for me is the decision by adobe to stop working on flash 10.1 for wm..

So as for your phone stinking.... I am pretty sure that in 1 year you will still be able to make and receive phone calls, send sms and mms, make VOIP calls, browse the internet (Safari doesnt have flash and never will), check rss feeds, play games, listen to music, update your blog, check your social media sites and pretty much everything that you could possibly need to do on a mobile device without having to pay a single red cent.

How does that compare to android or iphone? Hey if your idea of a phone non-stinking is the ability to pay $1.99 for a fart app then upgrade your phone!

I'd have to agree with pretty much everything you said here. I would still like to have an android option mainly for some of the apps that are being made for android that are not for windows mobile. I love my winmo though. I'd like to use Layar, but it's only made for android and iPhone. There are no manga reader apps for winmo. Winmo's google maps gets the job done, but i like the android version more. I think it comes down more to the apps than the OS itself for my preferences. It's a shame though that a lot of software companies that develop mobile apps are easing away from windows mobile in favor of iPhone and Android apps.

2 great posts about the issue with WM an the future.

I totally agree, its the lack of forward support in apps an by MS for abandoning their history.

Though, I see MS is opening WP7 up to more avenues each time new news is released, like they are realizing they can't close their sandbox off like they wanted too.

Example, Cut an paste is lookin like it will be included, Multi-Tasking and others that make WM or WP7 what we all know an love.

This is about the same as jumping over board before the ship sinks even though its just listing badly,...

Has anyone found/researched anything further then the stalemate we are currently at? The duel boot option for the eXpo would be incredible. I love winmo and I do love some of the current apps on android.. I fear the only one who can help us is Dark and I don't see this happening Sad

I am a Chinese, forgive my English is not good,I have a LG EXPO, I also have a GW620, of course, I can not cook ROM, I just have some opinion.
First of all I am sure you can run ANDROID on EXPO is absolutely, but the driver is a huge problem, very little information can be found, and the fingerprint system, task manager key drivers like almost impossible, so the run EXPO ANDROID is the most basic functions, but the performance will not good, and we will overcome this problem, we can do it well. If necessary, I can provide GW620 ANDROID2.2 more perfect ROM. Thanks to the people for this project, you are so sweet.
