Hi,

I just found this forum and hopefully it can help.  My Expo seems to have an issue with the bluetooth headset mic volume.  My headset worked great on my previous phone, but I have to almost yell into it on my expo.  I have tried turning up what volume controls I can find, but nothing seems to help.  The only registry settings I can find are for CE devices and not windows mobile.

Thanks for any help,

Hey waynew. First I would like to say welcome to the forum. Secondly did you try unpairing your phone and your headset then pairing them again? In addition the mic shouldn't have anything to due with the phone itself. Sounds to me like there is a problem with the hardware on the headset.

I have tried three different headsets that work great with other phones.  I guess I was hoping there was some sort of setting as it looks like there is on windows CE devices.

I've only used the Blue Ant z9i and Q1 with this phone and they work great.

I am starting to suspect the phone itself could have a problem since no one else seems to have this issue.  Concern there would be getting AT&T to believe me and any availability of a replacement.

Also having issues with my Expo and bluetooth mics. When using both my Plantronic headset and my JVC car unit (both of which pair right away with the phone) no one can hear me. I hear the people on the other just fine, they just don't hear me very well.

I'll chime in with a "me three"!  I just bought new home phones that are bluetooth enabled, and I have 3 different Oakley/Motorola bluetooths.  I get the same complaints from folks no matter which one I'm using.

No possible fixes for this problem?  I still haven't been able to get it figured out, and I think the girls on my order desk are going to kill me soon.

I also have this problem with bluetooth on the Expo.

I had AT&T replace my Expo (which they were only to happy to do after they looked at the size of my monthly bill), but the replacement has the same issue.

FWIW, I experience this when using both the Jawbone Prime, Jabra BT-530, or the BT car kits I've tried.

Guys I might have a fix for this. Check out the following from XDA...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459014

I havent tried it myself but it configures the BT audio gateway and allows you to set your mic gain.

Can somebody try it out and let me know if it works with their bluetooth headset.

Good find. Now to come up with a way to verify increased microphone gain.

This is an old thread and I am sorry to bring it back to life. However, I can confirm that the program that i linked to above works as promised.

I increase the mic gain on my bluetooth headset and my wife no longer complains about it being too soft. I think I increased the gain by about 5.

Anyway, just thought people would like to know.

For us noobies, can you post exactly what you installed and the steps you followed to find a successful fix to the bluetooth mic sensitivity problem?

Thanks so much!

Morgej,

For the noobies the easiest way is as follows.

Go to post 13 of the thread I linked to above and download the attached zip folder.

Follow the directions and unzip it to the folder detailed.

Install Mortscript 4.2 from here http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=view&entry=65

run the config file within the folder you unzipped the zip folder.

Use the on the fly option and just keep upping mic gain until you get what you want.

Regards
