Sounds like a bad unit, normal registration dosnt take more then 3 swipes. Make sure youre using the same general area on your finger, as in.. dont do left side of your thumb then the right side on the next swipe. I try to keep my finger as centered and stright as possible.

But still, if registration is repeatedly failing and youre doing things correctly its a bad unit, call your provider or whoever you got the phone from to get a replacement.

OK - looks like i have a bad unit.  I have a biometric fingerprinter reader on my Lenovo ThinkPad so i do it slowly and straight.  Dang.  Thanks for the help though.

It took me a long time to get my prints registered when I set mine up. I had to place the unit on the table and make sure my finger kept going over the reader straight and smoothly before it would finally take.

Also an odd glitch ive noticed and it dosnt happen 100% of the time.. once in a while while plugged into the computer or the wall, the fingerprint scanner becomes almost completely unusable.. no matter how many times i try it just absolutely wont read.. ive sat trying for like 10 minutes with every finger, and the second i unplug it from the wall, the next swipe unlocks it. Not sure what it is about plugging it in thats messing with the reader but thats definatly effecting it from what i see..

There is a sleep mode for it i guess.

Try tickling the button, i mean push it, then it should activate.

Yeah, I get that same problem sometimes. Like WarRaven said if you press it in it should activate it.

I registered my thumb under three different fingers. This way when i swipe in different positions it will still register.

Mine was working fine but it would error out about 30% of the time so I tried this tip and it worked out wonderfully.  I registered my index finger on 5 different fingers and now it is 99.9% error free.  Absolutely awesome tip.  Thanks.

If you screw up that finger tip or the print on it, you have non, to fall back on, other then the 6 digit pin.
Thats why they say register at least two, so if you lose one,.. I would add a couple more, say pinky doesnt get screwed up much.

That's the exact reason why I registered all my fingers. I would have to screw up all of them to have nothing to fall back on. Of course if that happens I probably won't be using a phone much anymore.
