First of all, I got the phone before AT&T even had it on their site in early December for $129 without rebates. It is an excellent device with lots of potential. Now waiting on the projector.....

I had read some time back that the eXpo has a built in Digital Compas like the iPhone but there is no mention of it within the manual or a software on the phone that will confirm that it is imbeded. Does anyone have any idea or researched this?

If the Digital Compas is burried somewhere within, is there an application that will allow it to work.

Also, is there a cool application/interface to use it as a level like the iPhone? Xda has a few but the graphics are not the best looking.

Thanks.

the hardware is there, but no api to use them. The level api calls can be hacked out of working apps, but there is no app that uses the compass so we cant hack out thos api calls :\.

thanks a bunch...I guess that we will have to wait for a bit until someone figures it out. I did come across an application that is ment for the Samsung Omnia called "O2Compass_V3.21_Min.CAB". I have not had a chance to install the app as it requires CF3.5.  Not sure if it will work or just brick the unit Sad

Program loads and runs just fine but nothing works on it.  I even turned on GPSGate to see if the GPS function would work but I'm in a building so I dont know if that will pick up any sat's outside.

Hi "rpmbnsf"

Installed the O2 Compass. but can not seem to get it to configure. But when I checked on the GPS function, I am able to get the coordinates and elevation. So I believe it is matter of someone looking into the registry in order to make it work. Hope that someone is able to make it work. It would be a great feature.  Smiley

The above program will never work on our phones, period. For it to work we would need to first get the dll function calls, which is way beyond me. Then create a new dll (to represent the samsung one used by the program) that would forward the calls to expos drives and parse the information and format the info to how hte samsung driver would have worked.

All,

I came across a site that seems like might have some information on how to utilize the code on the samsung and or Windows Mobile. Since I don't have any knowledge of writing codes. Maybe some one can find the link between the Compass program and the API code.  Huh Below is a link to the site.

Good Luck...

Happy to see that there are users out there interested in the LG eXpo!!! Smiley
