I am taking a 2nd stab at this device, got a good deal on used one.

This seems to be an issue for me since I have used mainly HTC devices with HTC UI that puts lipstick on the ugly pig (Windows Mobile).

The LG UI seems very un-finger friendly based on my limited time I have used the device.

I do like some features of the device, the task management is awesome, this device fits well in my hand, it seems well built (I expect well built from LG and Samsung)

The UI is not bad, would like to maximize the finger friendly usage.

I do plan to use a paper clip to align screen, are there other tricks that can be used.

I do see also a link in XDA developers, is there a team working on hard SPL and some additional ROM's for this device?

For anyone who had used the Windows 6.5.3 Tilt2 ROM with HTC Sense 2.5, Windows Mobile becomes much more finger friendly, the menu' s are enlarged even on 3rd party apps that almost eliminate the need for a stylus.

If someone had the technical skills to make similar changes to LG ROM (I do not mean porting HTC interface), I could see a lot of happy campers.

Would a Windows 6.5.3 upgrade to LG IQ/eXpo make any difference?

A 6.5.3 update would make it a lot more finger friendly. However, it won't be possible until we get an official update to use as a base rom to begin cooking. A rom dump (which has already been done) will not work for cooking.

Hey Dave, Welcome back.. Smiley

LG's sex appeal got you didn't it hehe.

Have you tried Woodholes tweaker program that he made for us, It uses tweaks an such that we have gathered here an puts it all in one program.
Tweaker Program

Also, I use a wooden toothpick, one of the pointy ones to calibrate my screen, its like the paperclip, but will fold over if, you jabbed it too hard by accident.

Well, hope it works out for you, have fun an enjoy the forums.

you can make these phones VERY finger friendly without going to 6.5.x, but 6.5.x is a big help.

Well, beauty of WM is, its not locked down so you can use whatever someone or company has made for it, for instance, SPB mobile shell 3.5 on our phones, is a nice gui.

Titanium is nice,fast, finger friendly.
Though if one wants to get picky, the sub menu's are at this point still tough to peck at in areas, it wasn't such a big problem in days of old when resolutions were quite low compared to these modern phones. though old, it does shows WM has been doing all that, for a long time.

Back to topic, there are other gui's out there that will work somewhat too, pointUI, throttle launcher, HTC manilla supposedly works too, at a cost.

We will never be able to get away from the lack of sensitivity of our screen.... big buttons are one thing.. but you still have to dig at the screen with your finger nail to get it to respond. It will never be finger tip friendly/responsive like the iPhone.

Sometimes when I try to swap today screens between favourite contacts.. I have to dig with my finger multiple times.. just a characteristic of the screen... it wants to see a stylus, not meant for fingers IMO.

This doesn't sound familiar at all. I use very minimal pressure, like resting my finger nail on the screen for it to respond. Did you calibrate it yet with a papper clip yet?

yes no difference. Sometimes it responds sometimes it won't.

Point was that, it doesn't respond to finger tips no matter how big the button is.. its the type of screen made for a stylus. I don't use one, never will.. but you need to use your finger nail to use it.

Well its all a matter of opinion. Personally I am starting to favor resistive screens more because your finger nail has a smaller surface are than your finger tip. Look at drawing programs for the iphone, they arent as good because your finger is much larger plus your finger is in the way of yur view of the drawing. It seems everyone look down upon resistive screen but with the right calibration, I think they can be better. People just have been trained to use their finger tips with the iphone and arent use to using their fingernails. One little side note, my girlfriend HATES it when i use my fingernail on her iphone, its pretty funny. Smiley

This doesn't sound right at all. I can swap with just a light touch of my finger or thumb (not nail). If you have already calibrated with a paper clip, you should also try Woodhole's Tweaker program if you haven't already done so, it is quite useful.

My only issue with Titanium is using 3rd party apps. With sense 2.5, you can create links on front panel for apps or contacts or links, Titanium is great if you wants MS basis, I use twitter app and RSS, GPS apps, Pocket Informant in place of Pocket Outlook. In order to open these apps, I have to go to start and open the apps, I do not see a simple way to launch 3rd party apps from Titanium, am I missing something?

To launch an app from titanium you need to install a plugin that will do this function. You can find such plugins on xda.
