Ok, I find myself on the asking side for once and this is pretty embarrassing...

This morning as I got to work and reached over to grab the coffee's for my fellow co-workers (I get stuck with coffee day Friday) my phone started beeping to remind me of an upcoming meeting (nothing unusual so far) but as it did I also heard a voice thinking it was something other than my phone till I realized it was verbally reading out my upcoming appointment. Scared the crap out of me!....lol. Thought I was losing it! The phone was in its case and as I stretched over to get the coffee's it must have pressed one of the keys enabling it to speak.

Here's my question... The phone was in the locked state using S2U2. What the hell button or combination is it to have it verbally read out announcements or in my case appointments?....lol. I can't replicate it. It's been driving me nuts (not that it takes much). It be a very cool feature but I just can't replicate it!

Any ideas?

Isn't that a Voice Command feature?

If you didn't reassign the long-press of the "back" button, just accidentally holding it down too long trying to "go back" can launch Voice Command. Even if you close it, it puts itself in the \\Windows\Startup\ again from there on out (unless you take it out again). Same goes for if you accidentally launch it from the Start Menu. Let VCmd see the light of day for even a moment and it puts down roots. Maybe that's what did it? That's all I can think of anyway.

LMAO @ possessed!

That was my first thought.
I've held down the "go back" button forever trying to replicate it with no luck... starting to think it was all in my head.... to many hours of programming!.....lol

I know once it's unlocked and holding the "go back" button will invoke the microphone icon waiting for verbal instructions but this was the reverse.... it read/dictated to me... that's what threw me.

This at least tells you how to turn it on/off:

I'm thinking now maybe what happened was this: You had an appointment reminder on the screen behind the S2U lock screen you didn't know was there. Then, leaning over the phone, you pressed the Back button too long and VCmd launched and read off the announcement. Seems plausible to me at least.

I figured it out. Go to your voice command settings and select notifications. Uncheck Only during free time if you want it to play even when the phone is busy and select announce notifications through device speaker of wired headset only and your phone will speak your reminders or appointments to you.

Mine only talks to me in my sleep.   Grin

Actually, I have my voice command to only announce through bluetooth. BTW Dark, good work finding this.

this reminds me of when a friend tried to show off the voice app on his android phone.... not only did it not listen to him, it replied in a firm voice "NEXT TIME JUST SAY (1st name) TO SPEED UP THIS PROCESS!"

my wife and i had a good laugh...

Thanks RC, I now have a relationship with my phone... wife NOT happy as now I talk to it more than to her... phone has less of an attitude so it's all good Tongue

Thanks Dark, now the phone competes with the voices in my head Smiley
The strange thing is that I could have sworn the voice I heard is not the same as the voice command one but then again it was first thing in the morning and still had not had a coffee so who knows.... not to mention how did it ever turn itself on in the first place?...lol

It's all good, Thanks for the input gang... off to continue my new found relationship Wink
