So I couldn't figure out why I keep missing calls... until today.. I've come to realize that non of my Mp3 relate sounds are working. My ring tones, playing music, nothing works. If I play it using the music player it just sits there, doesn't play. When a call comes in its only vibrate. I tried to change the ring tone and it keeps defaulting back to Beep.. but nothing comes out.

I tried soft reset, no dice. Do I need to do a full restore? Anyone else had this issue? I didn't install anything recently its been working well so far then one day stopped working.

I should mention that my FM radio works and I hear all other sounds, so its not the speaker or the headset.. its definitely software related.

I had this problem once after installing something. The only way I was able to resolve it was with a hard reset.

lol, I called Telus support then LG.. zero help. I mean zero...

I'm going to do the hard reset per:

http://www.lg-expo.com/how-to/how-to-do-a-hard-reset/

How do I make sure I keep my contacts? I'm going to sync my phone with outlook, and I also sync'd with Microsoft my phone... but I'm worried that after the hard reset... it will sync (remove) the contacts out of my outlook instead of putting the contacts back. How do I make sure it works properly?

I save my contact database every now an then by copying {Pim.Vol} off of the device onto my storage card, then if i should lose a contact, or the whole schwack of them as in this case with hard resetting, I just simply copy it back onto the device.

Though, you have to use a file manager program like Total commander to overwrite it when replacing it on the device.  Total Commander Grab the 2.5 version for a Arm based device on that page.

Myphone service works, and Outlook works to do the same thing, just before plugging in the device the first time after a hard reset, check in active syncs settings, an make sure to replace item on device an not replace item on desktop is set, so that your contacts are restored to the device when you sync it after hard resetting.(And not deleting the contact database on the pc.)

Sorry to interrupt you guys, just thought I'd toss this in here.

Peace

I had this 'problem' once and realized it was because I had the volume setting too low on the phone side.

When you turn your volume down on your device, make sure the phone side (on the right) is still set above the bottom line...

It won't delete the contacts from your outlook, don't worry. BTW - check volume levels as suggested - the IQ has those located on a place that is easy to press by mistake. It has happened to mute my ring volume by mistake too.

^ not the issue.

I've isolated the problem to be related to windows media player. It won't load, and by not functioning it disables all media files on my phone. Anyone know of a Cab file that will remove and re-install windows media player? That may solve my issue.

So I did a hard reset tonight. Fixed the problem, thanks Dark.

I used Microsoft Myphone, worked perfect to get all my contacts, text msg, and calendar entries back.

Since my post this problem happened again, and I reset my device and fixed it.

On the weekend I missed two important calls, and today I noticed the same issue is plaguing my phone.. this is pretty annoying. Anyone find a fix to this? Anyone know how to avoid it? I'm getting tired of losing all my settings and programs cause I have to reset my phone so often.

So this happened again.. seems to happen every 2-3 months....

Found a thread about it.. appears to be a bug with Windows Mobile.. if anyone can come up with a cab file fix for this.. I would be eternally greatfull.... for now its easier to just hard reset my phone each time.. thank god for Microsoft my phone.. otherwise I would lose it!!!

I often will notice I have no sound at all from the speaker but a soft reset always fixes it. I have narrowed my problem to use of bluetooth devices and it has happened across three eXpos and at least five different roms. I believe it to be a bug in the bluetooth stack but I think this is differeent from your problem. Anyway, MyPhone does make rom flashes and hard resets much more tolerable.

Happened Again. Every 3 months.. I read about a ROM that was out that fixes this.. any comment on where to get it? I'm upset that Microsoft has removed the free "microsoft my phone" service.. hence making my hard reset even harder..  I can't automatically get my contacts and txts back on the fly. thanks Microsoft.

Where can I found this Pim.Vol file?
The only related thing I can find a file called "Pim" in /My Device...

Happened again in the last week or so.... but I finally resolved it without the need for a hard reset..... and I am so overjoyed how easy the fix was.

Thanks to:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628968

It was as simple as going to Main Memory\Application Data\Volatile directory and deleting the 999 empty temp directories created by Windows Mobile 6.5. Once you hit 999 temp directories.. windows media player shuts down.. cause it can't create anymore. Delete them all the phone will go back to normal.. and NO MORE HARD RESETS!!!!!
