Hello ALL,

I am looking into purchasing the LG Expo. so I figured the best place to come for Pre-Purchase questions would be right here!  I am looking at the following phones:
Windows 6.5 = LG Expo
Windows 6.5 = HTC Tilt 2
Android = Sony Xperia X10
Android = Samsung Captivate
All  of the phones are of course on AT&T's network.  So my question is:
1.  If you were in my shoes right now would you buy the LG Expo with the knowledge you possess today?  If YES why, If NO why?
2.  Would you still purchase the Windows 6.5 or would you move to the Android world?  I have tried out the two Android phones for 2 weeks each and I am impressed, but boy do they also possess a bunch of issues.  So I am hoping that coming to the Windows Pro 6.5 world would eliminate a lot of the Android problems.  Specifically Contacts, Email, Office 2007 Pro version compatability and finally music and video.

So I will let you all take it from here and I am really looking forward to your advice and recommendations!  Thank!

Welcome Gunny,

1. I would still choose the eXpo over the devices you listed. I don't have a lot of experience with Android, just helping my friends learn how to use their devices. I was not that impressed. They all still carry multiple devices, a phone, an iPod, a camera, or a flash drive with their files. Not only can I keep all my files on my eXpo, I can use them on my eXpo. Tilt 2 ? Speed is king, baby.

2. I kinda answered this one up there ^. Not only can I keep all my files on my eXpo, I can use them on my eXpo. 1 device to rule them all. Or something like that. WM 6.5 has the most of everything. Android is growing and may be my next mobile OS, but if you gotta jump in now, I'd bet on WM.

Good luck with your research, hopefully whatever you choose works out for you. Even if you don't choose the eXpo, stop back by and let us know.

Thanks for the prompt response.  Maybe I am digging into the WM 6.5 and this phone seems to have a lot of power compared to the Tilt 2.  So if you had to do it all over agina, you would definately do it again?

vanillagorilla:  Has LG released any firmware updates since you had the phone?  Are they still supporting the phone?  I would assume they are since it is still selling, but we all know how that goes, lol.  When did you get the phone and has Windows supplied any firmware updates since you have had it?

Thanks!  ~~  Gunny

Question:  Is this phone running 6.5 or 6.5.3?  If 6.5.3, how was it obtained; OTA, DL, or another method?

Thanks!

LG has produced a firmware upgrade, though I am still not sure if they ever released it. They may have turned their back on it and it wandered away. LG does support the eXpo, as well as the support any of their mobile products.

If I was looking to upgrade right now, the eXpo gets my vote. If my second line was up for upgrade, I would have two eXpos. If I was adding a line to my plan, I would add an eXpo.

The LG roms are 6.5, however, the chefs in our community have produced some great 6.5.3 roms. The only LG update came out as a download.

I have not had much experience with Droid phones but i have had 2 Windows Mobile Smart phones and i have to say they have been awesome.

I love my Expo, it is so versitile and fast. It does have a few downsides such as no 3.5mm audio jack, WM has a few memory leaks, but overall it is by and far the best phone i have ever had. I can deal with soft resetting my phone once a day just to have the options this phone gives you.

As someone who has played around a lot with the Tilt 2 and then got the Expo, then got the Captivate, then played with the SE Xperia X10, I'd say right now:

Expo - 1st choice - easy call.

Captivate - 2nd choice and getting closer to the Expo as I tweak it, but not there yet.

Xperia X10 - 3rd choice - good camera but otherwise, meh.

Tilt 2 - 4th choice - and only if I HAD to.
