So a while back I was going to order the iPhone.  Then I got turned away by that data plan for some reason.  I saw the same thing on the Expo but didn't really mind because the Expo looks freakin amazing.

If any of you have owned an iPhone in the past, which do you prefer?  What features do you like better?

I'm just trying to see if I made the right decision. (Don't get me wrong I love the features of the Expo and the look of it.  First phone I'd been "Wowed" over and had to have.  Even the iPhone didn't do that to me.)

In my opinion, the Iphone is more for general public, where as more advanced users can get a lot more out of the expo. The iphone is a powerful device for the average user, but an advanced user might find some features lacking for example data tethering(im not positive but im pretty sure the iphone cant). Where the expo may not come with all the features of the iphone stock, most if not all can be implimented 3rd party..

theyllib i agree, I see the iphone as more of a toy that people buy to listen to music and play games on, one thing in particular that i find funny about the iphone is that it's actual phone feature is lacking (call quality mostly). Also coverage wise i have never lost signal on my expo ...yet, even here in Waco, TX, whereas many of my friends with iphones have lost coverage numerous times.

The biggest difference for me is customization. You cannot even set a background on iphone if you don't jailbreak it. Everyone's iphone menu looks the same except for the different icons for different applications. You cannot even change the layout. I hate the idea of running everything through itunes or app store. And you can't even get an insurance on an iphone. I pay $4.99 a month and they give me a brand new phone ($50 deductible) if something happens to my phone.

Just for fun, the main difference between the two right now is that you can get an iphone now-- who knows when the expo will be available!!! Cheesy  Really, the lack of a hard keyboard turns me off the iphone.

I have owned an iPhone right before the expo.  The iPhone is light years ahead of the WM platform in ease of use.  Due to the installed based, there is very little that you cant actually do if you know how (not unlike our device).  The main reason i jumped off the iPhone was that the thing was a pretty suckie phone. I ended up returning my Expo and now have a loaner Pure.  The main reason i am waiting is for WM 7 Series.  I really require a richer MultiMedia phone than is currently offered.  I also want a great well connected phone - I want it all. Is that too much to ask?   Roll Eyes

Really? you can't even set a background? I would have thought that's a no brainer.

Well, glad I picked the eXpo instead.

iPhone, you have got to be kidding. The iPhone is for the average user. A WM phone are for those advanced users. Also everything is locked down with the iPhone and you can customize practically everything with a WM phone. Sure you can jailbreak an iPhone, but there are still compatibilities issues. I see the iPhone as more of a toy and a Wm phone as a tool. Ultimately it is up to personal tastes. For me it's WM all the way. For others that want something that is easy to use and lacks any challenge it may be the iPhone.

Now I feel better that I got my iPhone rant out.

I have tried to avoid this thread.

That particular phone to me, is a fancy touch screen icon phone, with only the functionality alotted by the current application and its abilities.

Again being dictated by some council of monkeys that decides what is allowed.

A fancy feature phone, as intelligent/smart as the app being used at the time.

No real issues with Steve an his empire that the sun will set on eventually, just the limited nerfed absolutely stunted ability of the supposedly smart phone that is all over the world.

I hope they have some kind of recycling program in place.

My rant out, btw, nice one dark, I agree

Btw, these are just are our individual opinions an not a reflection of the site or its affiliates or anyone else on this planet.

Dark, correct me if I'm wrong, but WM7 isn't gonna be very customizable, either, is it?  So maybe Apple is winning in a way.  I know we still have WM6.5, but the best future phones will have WM7 on them.

I am sure that Microsoft would love to have the marketshare that this "toy" enjoys.

I don't think theres one iphone in any coca-cola or pepsi or hp or any other warehouse in world being used in mass numbers like good ole WM.

You forget the industrial side of WM, is freaking huge, fed ex, purolator, you name it, airlines, hotels bah.

Theres no app for that!
