What do you all think of MSFT's Announcement today? This thing looks like what I "want" but will they deliver?  My biggest problem with Win Mobile (including the Expo) is the multimedia experience.  This one looks like a Zune Phone.

The fact it can't run with old 6.5 apps is a real turn off. Not much customization since it'll be like a Zune HD interface, only with phone calling mechanics.

I am sure they'll do something with the 6.5 app base.  as far as i know its only a few hundred apps anyway.  That was my biggest (negative) surprise when i got my phone (coming from an iPhone).  Not sure the 6.5 issue is that big of an issue, bigger picture.

lg expos/iq has resistive touch screens, a capacitive touch screen is like what the iphone has, barley need to touch it.

I hope that's not true. IMO outside the US where English is not a predominant language a stylus is still the preferred way to input characters on a handheld.

I see the New os as the Zune Os(Media version), and the one we use presently will morph into the Business edition.

So, my guess, is we get updates an some media live hubs as a throw back, and keep sideloading an knowing WM or BE as we know it an ME will be the full on Media version.

These guesses are mine an mine alone an not the reflection of this forum or others.

Peace

ah, thanks for the clarification.  So to be honest, although I like the WinMobile platform much better, I do like the tactile feel of the iPhone - i just seems very precise and natural to me, whereas with my WinMob phone, i seem to have to "re-gesture" a lot and it doesnt seem as responsive as i am used to.

I was pleasantly surprised by the reveal of Windows Phone 7.  It was far more radical than I could have expected.  I will definitely be getting a WP7 phone once they go on sale.

As far as the current Windows Mobile, Steve Ballmer did touch on that briefly during the presentation.  He said something to the effect of continuing efforts for the current OS but looking to WP7 for the future.  Take that for what's it worth.  To me, it sounds like there will be plenty of support in the forseeable future.  Of course, it's all going to be contigent on the success of the WP7 launch.

I am not suprised to see this... WP7 on PET,from that sight.

I have little belief in most things printed there, but this is funny somewhat, especially if it turns out that WP7 kicks Apples behind for a while, seeing as they are so Apple biased there in first place.
