Well, nothing crazy really,...

We just seen the dismal reaction to the ipda or, itpads, something like thats release. And it didn't go over with the expected bang the world thought it would go off, or Apple.
Now its not a bad device, i guess, and we're not here to talk about the ipit device, but the possible outcome of MS's WM7 release down the road in relation to Apples recent endeavor.
So lets keep it near topic if we can.

I figured this might be an interesting thing to think about as the next couple weeks wind down towards MS's sneak peak at things to come. And as it gets closer, will things get crazier? and of course if they do, will it work out to MS's Benefit or not. Timing, and delivery are pretty key things here.

Could it be, Big Steve, (The one i'd let buy me a beer) has a secret police keeping things locked down as tight as Apple has, and is really snowballing us into thinking one thing, so then they come out of left field an deliver the goods of something different then we were led to believe.

Or will it be just kinda, yeah ho-hum past the today screen?

I kinda am leaning towards the secret police, an Big Steve, has a Ace or three up his sleeve or in his nose perhaps, an is planning to blind side us with something really nice.

I hope i'm not wrong, though, i will use it, whether its plain or a blockbuster as the alternatives, are just not, what floats my boat.

What do you think?

Well there was a hype with 6.5 and it didn't turn out that good.  So really who knows.  It is my hope that it is a lot better.  But I guess we will have to wait and see.  I am sure that it will at least be better than 6.5.

talking about WM 6.5 I'm disappointed that the build the eXpos have is an old one that doesn't have the more finger friendly features in place, I hope that At&t would at least give us and update to 6.5.*

anyway, back to the topic on wm7.

i guess if WM7 doesn't live up to the expectations then it'll have a hard time competing with other platforms for mobile devices, so I think MS is definitely trying very hard to make sure WM7 will be great. I'm not a MS fanboy, but I'm not really fond of apple or google so I'm still hoping that WM7 will fly.

I'm not too sure about the secret police thing... has any company been 100% successful at keeping things locked down?

Ok, not looking so good, 3-2..
Probably will stay on the negative side i suspect too. The chips are down, and hope is bleak for many...

Scotty, Even 6.5.3 is better then 6.5, it really is what should have been on the Expo/IQ. I run it on my wifes an son's HTC Touchs, with that terrible Cp an screen size, and it's useable more so then the  stock 6.1 or 6.5 by yards.

Davi, Yes, I agree, we should had a V8, oh wait, we do, we should have had 6.5.3 by default as the stock rom.

It's all on topic, no worries.

IF, WM7 is a failure of biblical proportions an scale, Android or feature phone before 30pin connector port for me, or time to disconnect even lol.

Secret police, maybe not so much a police force, but more like a lawyer with nad's that drag on a trailer behind him as he walks that watches over what leaves the office an may or may not leak onto the net.
Apple has done a stellar job at keeping their stuff under wraps usually, even with the 10in iphone.
Theres also no real information about the new iphine coming out either, so, it is possible to bury something yet even in todays age of electronic ratting/leaking.

So, if Steve B. did bury it hard, it may hit us hard when it comes to light.. I hope, an i kinda believe it may hold some water.

Proof? I have non, other then the lack of evidence of what is known at this point, and mysteriously, thats not alot, and thats suprising, considering the size of MS.

Imo.

When Windows 95 came out, it caught many, by suprise, over what they had been used to with 2.0, 2.11, 3.0, 3.1, then '95 itself, the Rolling Stones "Start me up" tune sealed the deal.

Now I'm not saying, I am just saying.

Well here we have the latest
Rumours

What do you think, Personally, without credibility, which would land someone in jail a long time i'm sure, i don't buy it completly myself.

Even so, if it was the full out truth, would you abandon ship?

I can't see leaving, even if it was full forward thinking, if we could get a update or two to carry us a little more, the backwards compatability issue may be resolved by the world at large hacking community, or MS itself caving to customer demands making it a moot a point eventually.

No Multi-Tasking, Do you buy that??

Some person somewhere,(SJ) is laughing their arse off over the bonfire of gadget site stories an threads in forums relating to this.

I fell into it too, though naplesbill pointed something out to me about the ipad rumors and how they were just that, rumors. And it struck a nerve that No one, seen that 10iphone coming even with the mass rumors at the time. I didn't follow one over that particular device, though i can only imagine, some were more believable then others, just like this situation.

So now, this changes my threads question a bit, as the hype was, Its going to be, All that.
Now, it's, distorted a bit, muddied even more then before... If we suspect coal and get a diamond, that would sure make the haters turn at night. As it would deliver onto us, what most wanted an didn't get with the ipad, and had hoped happens to our OS's future now with the loose rumors.

In other words almost, it would be hard, to not to live up to, or exceed the hype presently accepted an floating around now, and SCORE BIG possibly.

Edit:Mass Typo's lol

Here are some of my thoughts on the points made on the PPPCGeeks post you linked to:

Quote
-The User Interface is based upon codename “METRO”. It will be very similar to the Zune HD User Interface with a complete revamp of the “Start” screen. The UI is “Very Clean”, “Soulful” and “Alive”

I've never used a Zune HD so I couldn't say if I'd like it or not. I guess I could watch some review videos to get an idea, but at this point anything would be better than the stock interface of even wm 6.5. You pretty much have to install 3rd party apps/tweaks to make it really functional.

Quote
-Unfortunately there will be no Flash support at the get go as there was not enough time to implement these features.

Personally I think this is total bullshit. I had flash support in 6.1 using that IE version with a Flash player install from adobe. I think it was mobile 7.1 or something like that. There's no reason for not having flash support apple...I mean microsoft XD

Quote
-Windows Phone 7 will only support application installation through service based delivery. (i.e Marketplace). Application installation via storage card will not be possible.

Now THIS is total bullshit. The application install through only the marketplace takes away one of the best things about windows mobile. FREEDOM. I love being able to download an app from a site to my pc, save it on the card, and then batch install on the phone. The marketplace is barely usable and the installs take much longer than they do when installing from the storage card since they have to all download first. If I have hard reset my phone because of whatever reason, I don't want to have to go back through the marketplace to get my downloads again.

Quote
- No Multi-Task support. Applications will “Pause” when in the background, however will support notifications via push notifications.

I don't buy this one bit.

Quote
-Marketplace will now support “try before you buy” as well as an API

I doubt it very much.

Quote
-No NETCF backwards compatibility. This means the original rumor of no backward compatibility for applications holds to be true. That being said, there are high hopes of porting the NetCF to the newer platform easily.

<sarcasm>
Hmm...microsoft not supporting backwards compatibility? That's new...
</sarcasm>

Quote
-Microsoft is confident that devices will be ready by September 2010

This really means 2nd quarter 2011 and a carrier release to customers about 9 months after that.

Quote
-Full Zune Integration

And this means nothing to me.

Quote
-Windows Mobile Device Center will no longer be used. Zune software to take over syncing via PC.

I think anything would be better than the WMDC and activesync. Then again, I haven't used the zune software so that could very well be worse.

Quote
-OEM Interfaces will not be allowed to run on the device. Say goodbye to Sense UI / SPB Mobile Shell / Point UI / Infinity, etc, etc

The stock interface better be the best of all interfaces for this to go over well. This goes inline with removing the freedom known to wm. I love SPB Mobile Shell and this would really screw them over if MS won't let it run on WM. Hell windows mobile is the only OS that supports the shell right now. They have sections for iPhone, Symbian, Android, and Blackberry which shows they are working on versions of the shell for those as well. A lot of people would be pissed if MS took away this functionality choice

Quote
-Full XBOX Gaming Integration (Gamer tag, achievements, friends, avatars, merchandising, etc)

I could care less since I don't even own an Xbox. Plus...I mean really...As pointed out by penny-arcade, "Was not being able to know your friend's gamerscore when you're at the supermarket a huge problem?"
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/06/19/

Quote
-Full support for social networking

Again...not that big of a deal. I have my social networking apps that work just fine. If I'm really concerned with what someone is doing I'll just call them.

Funny indeed

I agree total BS rumor, wow, would it ever be a step away from the normal.

Though, we're just specualting on it here, as we're good for awhile with what we have now imo.

Just have to see what ol Steve dishes out to us before going crazy tho.
