Hello all! I have been using this site since I got my LG Expo, and its been wonderful.  So i'm giving back with a little review of a product I bought off of ebay.  I was looking for a hard case for the LG Expo, but seemed like no major manufacturer made one for our phones.  So I went to ebay and behold they had some on sale.  It was a a rubberized case with screen protector.  I was hesitant to purchase it because of the very low price of $7.00 plus shipping, but decided too.  I got the package today, installed everything on, and was very pleased with the results.

The Case
The case is made out of plastic with a slight rubberized feel to it.  It provides an improvement with grip of the phone.  All the ports, buttons, camera, flash are still accessible after installing the case.  The keyboard is still retractable and there seems to be no interference with typing.  Installation was a breeze with just snapping the pieces together to the phone.  They feel snug and doesn't seem like they will come apart with daily use.  I tried taking it off and I had to use my nails to take the covers apart.

Screen Protector
The screen protector is a separate film, pre-cut to be put on top of the LCD.  This screen protector was far superior than the film I was using before (a multipak I bought at Best Buy, I had a lot of air bubbles).  It has a plastic card feel to it, but is super thin.  This made the installation easier and with none/little air bubbles (look at the pictures).  It also works with the touch screen with no problems.  There are also other colors to choose from.

Belt Clip
Its not in the pictures, but there was also a belt clip that clips into the back of the case.  I don't know how secure this will be, but I wont be using it.

Conclusion
8/10.  I would like a more durable/stronger case, but for $10 shipped I cannot be more pleased with this case.  Now my phone is completely protected from minor bumps and scratches.  If you would like to buy one, I got it from the seller: my_gadgetgarage1.  Here is a link to his store front with the lg expo in the search field.

 Smiley

Heyas  asnboi2env, Welcome to yours an our place, for our phones.

Now, About that case, looks pretty interesting indeed, do the clips that hold the bottom half on, interefere with the top slider when closing or are they really really thin...?

Looks kool though friend, nice scoop for a couple clams I'll say. I have a slip in case, felt lined leather outers, though that may be better for me when im at work....may just need both lol.

Again, welcome to a good Expo/IQ home...

Peace

Thanks for the welcome WarRaven,

As to your question, there is about a 1mm gap between the top and bottom covers.  The clips are thin.  When the keyboard slides open and close, the springy action is still there.

Yeah I'm using a slip in case and the plastic case on the phone right now.  You never know when you need extra protection.

Agreed, need a few ways to look after these things, but can't always, be using a otterbox or something when going out.

Cheesy

Something tough for when the need arises an something kinda classy for evening outings and such, never seen a one size fits all yet, as everyone and their needs are definately different.

This is very good info indeed. I've been handling my phone like a Fabergé egg for fear of scratching it. This looks to be a great body/ screen protection combination for when I actually have it out of the holster. Thanks!

I have experience with using this type of case before on my last phone and my wife's iPhone 3Gs... reason they are so cheap is because they break over time and the rubber coating wears off after a few months exposing the plastic beneath (looks ugly.. black may not be so bad).

I bought a leather slip in case from e-bay for about $3.. should arrive from Hong Kong in a few weeks.. I will post up photos also.

Just wanted to contribute my own find here: a soft, matte-finish silicone 2-piece case I bought that I am absolutely loving so far -

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035VVOVA/ref=oss_product

It fits the eXpo like a glove, works perfectly with the slide of the keyboard (there are tiny hard plastic tracks that mesh together on the top and bottom)  and the feel in your hand, or when you set it on a smooth surface, is smooth, but still has good solid traction.  And it's washable too!  Shocked

On a cautionary note: the screen protectors the same sellers carry ARE perfectly custom cut for the eXpo, but scratch up and dull much more quickly than expected.  For $ .99 each I wasn't expecting a lot, but completely scratched up (and therefore becoming hard to see through) after only a week??

I got the case and yep its not an Otterbox, but I like it.  For the price I' can buy quite a few and let them get scratched and take the abuse and keep the phone cleen.

RogueCheddar, how is your case holding up? Also, in the pictures it looks like the multi-task, volume, and camera buttons are covered.

My case is still holding up great. I love it. I take it off and just rinse it with warm water to remove lint and dust about every 2 weeks, dries off pretty quick.

Yes, the side buttons are covered - however, there are - how can I describe this? - slots on the inside that the buttons fit into. Inside those "slots", or niches, are raised little nubs of silicone that rest on the actual buttons. The outside of the cover has raised sections of silicone in the same shape and location of the buttons underneath. The end result is: you still press the same buttons in the same places, and they respond the same, you're just pressing the silicone instead of the phone itself. Same resistance, click, everything.

Hope that helps, and wasn't too confusing. I'll try to upload a pic of what I mean for you when I get home tonight.

Figured I'd chime in here too as I got the Hard case not the soft one that RogueCheddar got.  Mine is in perfect shape after over a month, granted, I'm not hard on electronics so I didn't expect the case to be taking hits on a regular basis, but the coating hasn't even scratched yet, so I'm pretty happy with it as well.  Seeing that these cases are cheap, I'm appt to try the one Rogue has just to see if I like it more.  The price on these things makes it no big deal.  Only issue I have with these cases is I have to take it off to use the projector.  Now wouldn't that be cool if one of these case makers offered a case that would protect the projector as well...  Oh well, I can always dream.

Though I would like to see a big name case maker get in the mix here, I'm not unhappy with the case I have.
