RC,

lol sounds like you have got a phone for each hand...

I only got my Expo at the start of the year. If I went and got another expensive handset my wife would kill me dead (probably while I slept). She says I still pay too much attention to my Expo.

I think I will wait until I can afford to purchase a new phone outright than go on another stupid contract with a service provider in Canada. So that may take me till the end of the year. By then I am hoping I'll have some cool choices maybe a maemo handset. mmmm linux on a handset....

As far as android goes I really can't see what benefit it offers over windows mobile (except flash 10.1 that might be worth the upgrade alone.

Sort of - WinMo is still far superior for connecting to my work exchange server.

Must admit: I did want to put them head to head and compare.

Both Moto and HTC are good manufacturers - usually.  But owners of the original Omnia and the Omnia II have been raving about Samsung for some time now, so thought I'd give it a go. And that Super AMOLED screen just whispered sweet nothings to me and drew me in  Grin

NEVER!!!

That was kind of my intention - wanted the best of both worlds without having to give up what my Expo can do, but also getting the things that Android is good at, or apps that have only been made for Android or iClone. Like I said in another thread: like dual-wielding a 10mm and a .45 - both good for different reasons. Or maybe a standard and a metric set of wrenches - for each job the perfect tool.

Just registered too. I'm seriously thinking about an early upgrade and this looks like the phone I want to get. I just don't see Microsoft going anywhere with their new WP7 OS and Android seems to be the way smartphones are heading.

Interesting....

I think we all are concerned about WM's future indeed, at first it looked very dark, now its starting to loosen up some, though it will never be the WM we all knew again.

How ever is that such a bad thing, a little more media integration and fluidity among its apps is a good thing, Xbox and gaming is a possibly big plus.

It's just part of the unknown right now, so yeah we're left in the dark wondering if its going to be all that, or atleast what Android can do now.

My wife just got the HTC Desire, nice phone, S-LCD version, long battery life so far. Any how, its nice and all and fun to play with, it leaves me with a feeling of, I am just not sure.

With WM, I am sure, I know it, what to expect from it an enjoy it now lol.. Android is getting there yes, though its not there for me yet.

I can say this with a %1000 certainty, No fruit phone will ever enter my house unless its carried by a guest or visitor.

Curious, Has Samsung made this batch of phones better then the OMNIA's, they were trash imo. Creak an groan like a cheap TV plastic remote control does, very inspiring to hear when its held to your head so often.

No offence, just their history with me, is jaded.

I got my Captivate last Monday.  Couldn't be happier.  This thing flies and normally has about 120MB of free RAM.  Rooted/Lag Fixed this thing is ridicusick!

Download Skies of Glory, it is cross platform android/iphone.

So far I've been pretty impressed with the build quality of the Captivate - very solid, tight and nary a squeak or creak.

Curious Ghostface, which lagfix did you apply, and is that graph supposed to represent Mhz? If so, that is overclocking to the edge of spontaneous combustion!

I used DesignGears SuperRooter before he included overclocking (it includes overclock now.)  I haven't overclocked yet and as of right now don't see the need for it.  That graph is the Qudrant Standard benchmark for my device.  It performs memory read/write speed tests, CPU tests, and OpenGL tests.  Download Quadrant Standard from the android market for free and try it out.

How is the battery life?

That's been the number one complaint from my friends with newer android phones, although none have a samsung.

It's getting better daily.  I've only had it a week so I don't know how long it takes to train a battery.
