Hi there to all.

In my initial time on this forum I tried to help people out by offering a free version of SPB Backup. This was removed and only now I realize that it was (I am only now getting used to the forums on here.)

------I had not read the forum rules, and I wrongfully assumed this would be okay------

I would not like to feud the decision of the Administrators but I feel that we should allow exceptions.

I honestly have doubts that everyone on these forums has a phone with no apps that have been "cracked" or gotten without the need for payment. SPB Mobile Shell has been so widely used in custom ROMS that people dont really notice on XDA.

Their are only 2 reasons I do not purchase these applications, one, because of a past experience with credit card fraud, and several key loggers on our old computer, we simply have NO trust for putting a valuable number into a electronic. And two, because though the software is great and they do need money, SPB REALLY over charges and gouges for software that can be found in the O Market.

Again not to refued the Admins on the site, or disrespect them, but I would just like some clarification.

Freeware is fine. Warez is not allowed. You offered software piracy. This is not and will not be allowed. Piracy is illegal and wrong.  I have been typing for about 30 minutes now because I keep going off on rants about how angry software piracy makes me. You may not find theft offensive but please stick to the rules at least to help us avoid lawsuits from those who actually own the rights to the stuff.

It really doesn't matter if you think they are gouging or not. The fact of the matter is that these company's own the rights to the software and can charge what they want for it. Since they own the rights it is illegal to obtain the software without paying or the consent of the copyright holder. Therefore in order to help avoid any legal issues we do not condone posting pirated software on this forum.

I agree with you that some do gouge, like SPB.

Though with that said, it is theirs to do with as they please.

If your concerned about CC use online, try an use Paypal instead.

Eric,

I would dispute that SPB mobile shell is included in any ROMs on xda.

Maybe you are getting confused with Touchflo or Sense.

Anyway, software piracy is illegal regardless of the morality of software developers overcharging for applications. Nothing gets a forum shutdown quicker than breaking copyright laws.

I personally don't care whether you pirate software or not (I am not a software developer) just don't use these forums to advertise and broadcast it.

Just out of curiosity because i have never looked it up. What are the legalities of Dark taking windows mobile and altering it by cooking his new ROMS. Would this be considered illegal?

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, i had just never contemplated whether it was legal or not.

While i agree in principal about softare piracy. I do believe that a lot of these companies charge way too much for their products. But that is part of business, if i was developing that stuff i would try to get as much as i could out of it too.

Fact-It is Ms's property alone.

We all rent software, we don't ever really own it.

MS, turns a blind eye to it as it's not being resold, if it were, the lawyers would eat Dark an others for breakfast.

And this is why you cant ask for donations or payment. To help prevent any legal ramifications?  Makes sense.

No, close though, you can ask for donations like Dark does.

You just can't resell it or rebadge an resell it.

THANK you. Least some one is here with me.

Honestly I would be okay with paying for some of the apps I have.....but one app isnt worth $1000s in credit card fraudulence.

Now that I look at it I really only have 2 "stolen" apps and the rest is freeware.

Still none the less I cant change the forums but I cant see legal issues arising... What about torrent sites? They seem to get past it.

You know Im just not going to bother. I take this back. I know you all feel strongly about piracy but Im not going to risk ALL my money for one app.

I just was curious if theirs another reason you guys had that in place.
