So, here is my sob story:

I dropped my eXpo in salsa, SAD! -salsa still worked fine- Now the touch screen won't work even though the phone turns on and connects just fine to Windows Mobile Device Manager.

So why not just sync your contacts to Outlook then transfer them to WP7 you fool!?!?

Well, I've been trying, here are the routes I've tried and the results.

Attempt 1: Walk in to AT&T store, notice enormous HTC Surround poster, ask customer rep to transfer contacts from eXpo to HTC Surround.

Fail 1: "Sorry, we don't have the software to do that for that phone yet Mr." Lol?

Attempt 2: Take phone home and nerd it out, pop off the touch screen wipe it down, etc. etc., do anything to get the touchscreen to work.

Fail 2: Touchscreen doesn't work

Attempt 3: Open Windows Mobile Device Center, connect phone, open Mobile Device Settings, Change Content Sync Settings, click Contacts, click "Save"

Fail 3: After a few seconds of "Syncing" I get the following error:

"Your device cannot synchronize with the current Outlook profile on the desktop. This may be because a different profile was used to set up synchronization with your device."

GARRR!?!?! WHYYY!?!?!

----UPDATE!!!!------

Removed my device from device list to try and reset everything. Now that my device is locked there is no way to sync it again and I cannot figure out how to unlock my phone not using the touch-screen. Garrrrrrr!!!!

Attempt 4: Try to find contact info through File Management in WMDC.

Fail 4: After searching every file folder, I cannot find any contact info. Of course this also is a moot point now since I cannot unlock my phone to search the files from my PC OR the Phone.

-------------------

So guys, I feel like I'm pretty screwed until those AT&T dirtballs get the software for their own phones. Do you guys know any secrets on how to unlock the phone using the keyboard? Maybe a hack program to unlock the phone via pc?

Pweeease?

Thanks:)

You could try my mobiler. It should let you control your eXpo with your pc.

Hope that helps.

Salsa? That's the first time I've heard that one. :|

As an aside, incase you're not aware, you won't be able to "sync your contacts to Outlook then transfer them to WP7" directly. You'll have to sync from outlook to hotmail/gmail/etc and then add that account on the phone.

Are you actually using outlook? If so, what version?

The error message suggests you're not, or, you did setup a different profile to sync with originally.

Are your contacts on your sim card or the phone itself?

If it's the sim card, just pop it in your phone, you'll be able to import the contacts from the people tile. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/people/import-contacts-from-my-old-phone.aspx
