I've been tryin to find a fix for the escalating ringtone issue I'm having. I hate how it fades in and I've been tryin to find the reg edit that fixes this. Does anyone have this problem and also find the damn ringtone thing annoying? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Not sure what you're asking for, but you can change the ringtone so it's always the same volume. Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications, select the ringtone type:

Ring = loud constant volume
Increasing ring = fade in
Ring once = 1 loud ring
Vibrate = vibrate only
Vibrate and ring = vibration with loud constant volume
Vibrate then ring = vibrate then loud constant volume
None = none

I know that. I know how the phone works and what all the settings mean. Whenever my phone rings, the ringtone fades in, no matter what the settings are. I'm just wondering what registry settings, if any will fix this. And does anybody else have this problem?

To change the size limits for ringtones, did you  install the cab from this post: http://www.lg-expo.com/general-lg-expo-discussion/ringtone-size-limit/ or use Woodhole's Tweaker program, or do the reg edit yourself?

The CAB above will do it for you but also does that fade-in you're referring to. Since I upgraded to the V10g ROM and reinstalled everything, I used Woodhole's Tweaker for that mod and did not re-install the above CAB like I did the first time - and no more fade-in on ringtones.

Please also keep in mind that we have a lot of people come to this forum that are not only new to the Expo, but to Windows Mobile itself, or smartphones in general. Some have never even tried to use a custom ringtone beynd what came with their phone. So your comment:
I know that. I know how the phone works and what all the settings mean.
was unnecessarily snarky to someone that's trying to help.

We can't tell your level of smartphone proficiency by your 3rd post dude  Wink

RogueCheddar, Thanks I am going to try that. I apologize for the reply that seemed to be rude, I was just a little frustrated. Nothing rude was meant by it. I was just telling him. One more question, how do I upgraded to the V10g ROM??

No problem b_brutal,  no harm done. We've all reached that kick-the-cat-yell-at-the-kids-punch-the-wall level of frustration with Windows Mobile at LEAST once  Smiley

Here you go on the v10g upgrade -  pros, cons, questions answered, my own comments and experiences with it included. Link to the LG page and software is in the first post:

http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-software-updates/software-update-for-expo-v10g/msg6534/#msg6534
Any further questions or comments about it should be posted in that thread though, instead of this one. Just FYI.

Rouge,

     The ringtone escalating problem is still there....could you tell me what your registry settings are for  hkcu/control panel/sound categories/attenuation and  hkcu/control panel/sound categories/ring. I'm thinkin its somethin in there. The one issue I have with the update though is the way the contacts menu is layed out. I would prefer it to be the way it was before the update....is there a way to change that?? You can't even move contacts from sim to phone. You can only copy and then there is doubles of each one. Thanks

Sounds like the update put you back to LG Contacts as default, instead of the WinMo Contacts, and with LG's you can't hide SIM contacts. More here: http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-tips-tricks/hide-sim-contacts/

I'll look into the reg settings you asked about and post back soon.

It actually made WinMo contacts default, I would like to have LG Contacts as default. Is there anyway to do that? Sorry I'm being so difficult. I'm just tryin to get things right before I go overboard and buy an Iphone.

Here you go b_brutal, sorry for the delay:

- HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Attenuation\ DWord value 0=0, value 1=0, value 2=5

- HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Attenuation Category\ DWord value =2

- HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\InitVol\ DWord value=0
