I'm not receiving any text messages.  When I restart my phone I get a slew of messages from......

from: 1111470400
with the message: WVCI 1.1 yhoo

from: 1111470500
with the messge: wvci 1.1 aim

from: 1111470600
with the messge: wvci 1.1 msn

there are about 20-25 of these messages that come through.  then i get a notification that says my sim card is full?

Each time i contact ATT for support they tell me to do a master reset or take the phone to an ATT store.  What should I do and if I do take it to the ATT store, should i remove all the apps from it?  Thanks for your help with this, I really appreciate it.

I know we used to be able to set contacts, and maybe sms on the sim card itself.

However, I can not remember where or how to do it, or even find it on my phone with this tweaked rom, though I am positive it was there for contacts, under LG's idles if i am not mistaken about it.

If your running the stock rom, check into the lg's contacts and see if some are being stored on card and maybe screwing up or if theres a link do it through the stock roms lgs messaging application even.

On other thoughts, does a Hard reset cure this issue, then it compounds an re-appears after a spell of time?

Hoping others can offer some more help with this one before you take it back.

If you do take it back, just Hard reset the phone there if they decide to take it, assuming you have a back up on a memory card for easy restore once its all resolved...And don't forget to pull the memory card after you do it. Wink

In any case, let us know what happens, for others an curiosity sakes too.

Peace

Yes, you can still do that but all my contacts are not on the sim cause you can see the icon on the phone to the left of the contact itself.  Its different between the sim and not on the sim.

Yes, still running the stock rom. As mentioned earlier, i double checked to see if they were stored on the sim and they were not.

haven't done a hard reset but i might have to do that today to find out.

I do have a memory card in the phone.  I'm sure I can move all my cabs there in case it gets taken away.  I'm just worried that they might blame some of the programs that I've installed in it.

In any case, let us know what happens, for others an curiosity sakes too.

From what I could find doing some research last night, this is usually caused by a corruption of the OZ Instant Messaging app from AT&T, which you can uninstall & then re-download from the AT&T MEdia Mall

In Windows Mobile 6.5 they apparently took out the SIM Toolkit application, so you cannot directly see what all is stored on your SIM and delete things - however, if you have (or can borrow) any WM 5, 6, or 6.1 phone you can put your SIM into it and delete any stored messages.

Ok, further research seems to indicate a couple things:

1) OZ instant messaging application is definitely to blame for those bizarre messages.

2) Wonderful AT&T, in their endless wisdom and benevolence, decided to make this part of the ROM on our phones.  You can't uninstall it. Sad

3) But .... the issue with those messages is that you are getting them because you are still logged into an instant messaging server. What you need to do is:  from your PC, log into your IM account(s) and when it complains you are already logged in close that message, then LOG OUT of the service & close it. Then restart the phone.

After that, you shouldn't get any more of those messages. Use your Blackjack to clear your SIM card of saved messages, and you should be good to go  Cheesy

Thanks Rouge. I tried doing that procedure about going online to my services and then logging off the phone, then restarting it.  All those messages still come back and it still says SIM card Full. This is bollocks.

The messages already sent that are still trying to reach your phone unfortunately will likely still have to be dealt with, but more should not appear after those. Were you able to clear your SIM card of any stored messages?

omg, you have to love stupid add ons by the carriers...

Sorry I was no where near the issue, not too well up on newer gsm phones, being a near lifer from cdma's.

I hope you get it, and are capable of avoiding the scenario again down the road.

Way to go guys.

Keep in mind though, this method will delete your SIM Contacts as well as any messages saved to the SIM card. I do not believe it allows you to pick & choose.
