I am having extreme difficulties with my GW825 phone, the phone is locked and the touch screen is not working correctly, the buttons work fine and I can receive incoming calls.  Is there a way to unlock the phone with a few key presses?

Tried many things already, including trying to restore the SW of the phone, which doesn't work when the phone is locked.

You could try a hard reset, but that should be a last resort. However if you can't unlock the screen that may be your only option. To hard reset hold End Call + Vol Down + Multitask key + power button. Hold them until the phone gets to the boot screen after the Windows Mobile boot screen. After that let go and it should go to the screen calibration screen.

Hey Maallan!! Welcome to the foums Wink

Interesting first post.

Is there more to this story? (Just colour me curious)

You, own the phone, you have it a while, enough to set the lock code..

So the screen became unresponsive since it was set up with a lock code, is that correct?
And your wondering if a few key presses would bypass the lock code.

I would think a hard reset followed by a trip to the store would warranted for a failed device, no?

I mean, if mine did this behavoir, i would reset it(explained in service manual) an return it to point of purchase, not try an recover it as it has an obvious hardware defect, unless it wasn't mine.

I'm not saying, I am just saying.

There really isn't to much back story about this problem.  I've had the phone since the 24th of December, the screens responsiveness has been "glitchy" for a while.  The alignment would mess up after unlocking and now this complete failure.

I don't have a lock code, just a lock screen and the slider.

I'll try the hard reset when I get home from work, since it is pointless to bring the phone anywhere if I can only receive incoming calls.

Thanks for the help,
Michael.

Ok though, you know its impossible to engage the finger scanner lock without setting a 6 digit pin, did you suddenly forget that though..?

So even if the scanner doesn't like your wet print or distorted print, you just enter the pin You have to enter to to set up the scanner lock in the first place.

Do you see where it doesn't add up for us??

Ok, i mis-read it, so your normal lock slider is not responding, then i would say the unit is hooped if it has done this since you set it last, so the screen is completely useless to a slide input but, you figure you can enter your code if past it?

I suspect your backed up contacts at home are your only saving grace, no offence but this doesn't make sense to me.

If it won't slide, are you going to hammer the digit code in??

Filll us in, when you get to the bottom of it, as this is unusuall an concerns us that it could happen others then..

Can you give some more detail about this for me?

Has someone else been playing with your phone at school/work?

I have been in and around the cell industry since Aurora an have seen some strange stuff an heard lots, though when someone says, I can't get past my lock code, that i dont have a code for?
Screams stolen or found phone.

This happens too much to believe, not here yet but will..possibly.

So take this all with a grain of salt alright, i am being bad cop as it don't add up, but i'm not an executioner, Dark is,lol, no kiddin aside sometimes stuff happens beyond normal expectations, an this seems like a long one past an it places me here, understand?

I mean no offence really, an hope if it is actually a case of you found ths phone, you will have a turn of heart an turn it in so maybe some heart broken slob isn't worrying to death about his hpone/information in the others hands.

If not,we need to get to the bottom of this for al of us..

I think what maallan means is the mechanism for locking the phone was somehow engaged but they never set a password for it.

(if you click start and then at the bottom of the start menu click "lock" it will lock the touch screen)

I believe that they somehow got to this point, where they "locked" their screen and couldn't "un-lock" with the slider due to a faulty touch screen.

When there is no pin/password/key/code or whatever you call it set for the phone, you can just slide the lock and it un-locks it.

I tried searching, but I haven't found anything that suggests there might be a way to "un-lock" the slide lock with hard keys. I bet there is some weird combo somewhere though.

That would be a fair guess too.

Well hopefully the Op updates us to what happened to them.

Hate to think the screen just died to input, egads..not a good sign to us all is it.

Tigertosser's explanation is spot on.

Now, after two and a half days of no touch screen capacity everything is back in working order.  I have no idea why I couldn't slide the lock mechanism for the past two days and now I can, but if it happens again i'll have to take the phone in for an exchange.  The screen problems did initiate after turning on the finger print scanner and continued even after turning it off, but that could have been a coincidence.

The only third party software that was installed was a facebook app.  I have also noticed that my alignment is  not quite spot on (parts are right on, while other parts of the screen are almost an icon width off), even after what I believe to be a good job aligning the phones screen.

Is anyone else's alignment off like mine?
