Hi there.

Well I cut up a USB sync cable, to try to find out a little, and to see if I could make a audio out/video out/ or charging cable

Well I am 1 for 3.

Pins 1 and 5 are the ground and 5v in for charging.  No problem there.

Now to the audio/video out.  Could not get this to work.  No mater what I did it was not recognized as a audio or video cable.

Hypothosis:  My USB cable (it was a sync cable I bought for a couple of bucks) has pin 5 and the shielding/outer casing of the connector shorted together.  I suspect that the FM radio uses the sheilding when it is ungrounded for the FM antenna, and also senses if pin 5 is shorted to the shielding or not to ID the connection as a audio/video cable.  This way our 5 pin USB connector actually has 6 connections which will help for a TV out cable I am thinking.  Don't know where to get an ungrounded conector though...

He. He...except by buying a cheap  micro USB headphone set and cutting it up...which I HAVE ordered on eBay as I mentioned in another thread.  And that way I get to test a cheap headset too!  I will let you know how it goes...

Love to hear from anyone who has more info on the pin outs for our phone, or has tried anything else.  Or just has some useful advice!

cheers,

maybe we can find the right pin outs that the projector uses to display the screen? maybe that will be easier?

ok.. SO i was messing around with my headphone adapter just to see what i could find and i found something very interesting. I can trigger the phone to think there is a TV out adapter plugged in by holding the little button on the adapter (the send and end call button) while plugging it in! and the screen pops up saying it has detected an adapter and so on.. well i tried a bunch of things to get a signal to a tv but with no luck.

Funny thing is, when i plug in headphones and hold that button down i can hear some sort of noise so maybe i just need the right combo of wires to get it to show video OR maybe i need to take it apart and use the microphone pins.

just thought i'd share this, maybe it will help somebody out. I'll keep what else i find and post it up.

Great info.

I will play a bit too.  I  just tried it with my earphone adapter, and it does what you say, on my phone too.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.  If you take your adapter apart be sure to let us know what you find inside..

Still waiting for the micro usb headset to come.

Guessing the pin out of the TV out cable...

WARNING: these are just guesses, dont get mad if you go build one, and it doesn't work,or it fries your phone...

My first attempt:

1 -- Gnd
2 -- L Audio signal
3 -- Video signal
4 -- R Audio signal
5 -- + 5V
casing -- antena for FM

OK you electrical engineering types..is this possible?
Other ideas?
Reasons this is wrong?

alright got video out working!! just as i expected. the video is coming from the mic + lead and - lead. produces perfect picture! once i solder them up it still leaves the 3.5mm jack for sound output. the send/end call button does not need to be pressed for video output only upon connection so you can use this adapter for both audio in a call and as a video out cable!

i will try and figure out the wiring diagram soon and will also post a video. ill keep you guys posted!

any other information i can provide you guy ill be happy to figure out!

OK: you have impressed me, and also shamed me into going after my cable too, no more waiting for the headphone from eBay....

I'll try it as soon as I get a chance - tonight or Friday night.

Great work ha1o2surfer,

Stimpson

ps
Is the casing of the conector, conected to one of the 5 pins in conector or not?  ie: is the sheilding shorted to wire 5 (or wire 1 depending which way to count)?

i got the audio out perfectly using a cheap kyocera adater, didnt test video out because its not my real goal. tried to use charger plus audio out but as soon as i connect charger the phone mutes itself, staying without any kind of sounds until reboot.
