Ive said it in a few other posts but it was kind of not the main subject in any.. The accelerometer in the eXpo dosn't work with any apps i download, they cant connect to it i suppose either a driver issue or LG has locked it out similar to the incite.. but anyone able to fix this and make the accelerometer somehow compatible with software developed for HTC's sensor id be willing to pay, because this is a key feature of the phone for me thats locked out..

Unfortunatly for me its a dealbreaker, if I cant find a fix for it soon ill have to call about returning the eXpo and getting the tilt2.. I just cant understand what reason LG would want to lock out a feature of the phone.. It makes no sense to me what are they getting out of me not being able to have applications use the rotation sensor?

I know what you mean. We went through this problem with the Incite. LG is going to have to release the coding for their driver. If they do then it will be possible to write a wrapper program to allow third party programs to use the accelsensor.

On your device, change the following registry entries:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>AccelSensor>SensorEnabled - Changed to "1"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>AccelSensor>TransMode - Changed to "1"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/LGE/ROTATEMANAGER/EXCLUSIVE/STATE/SLIDEOPEN>AccelSensor - Changed to "1"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/LGE/ROTATEMANAGER/EXCLUSIVE/STATE/SLIDECLOSED>AccelSensor - Changed to "1"

Now all your apps with work smoothlessly with the accelerometer. No changes needed in any application.

(copy of my xda post)

I emailed chainfire and asked a few questions i was wondering about the g-sensor..
First, I asked if the g-sensor on the LG eXpo was a standard 3 axis g-sensor, because in the engineering menu I saw that the g-sensor test only visually showed it testing two axis, not three. He says that it is, good news for us.
Next I asked if SensorLib was an SDK type thing, that makes applications previously written for HTC or other g-sensors work on the expo, or if it was something programmers have to make applications work with. And he said it is NOT an SDK it is for programmers use so that they can access the gsensor in new apps, and will not make old apps work. But he did say that it is possible and hes seen libs like that for some Acer devices(ive seen them for other devices as well) but there will be some limitations with that, depending on how the program is trying to access the g-sensors readings.

So what i'd like to find now is someone who knows enough to delve into the hardware/drivers of the phone and make a fix/patch(i think it will just be a dll file, thats what ive seen for other devices) so we can use gsensor apps made for HTC devices(since thats the most popular). If anyone knows anyone who can, or can themselves, let me know by message it would be much appreciated. And of course I would be willing to pay for such services.

Interesting... I emailed LG a few days ago asking about the sensor being available to games and the reply i got said..

"Dear Billy,

We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer. I will be more than happy to assist you with this.

Unfortunately, this feature is only able to rotate the screen. The games or applications will not work with this feature. There is no way to modify or unlock this feature.

If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-793-8896 at your convenience.

Yet chainfire claims to have access to it already. I hope this is just a case of the E-mail Admin not knowing wtf hes talking about.

Well I would like to side with you on your suspicion that maybe he is unaware of upgrade/patch's coming down the pipe.

I hope so at least.

What worries me is all the incite users and their similar troubles with the sensor. Hopefully lg learned from their mistake!

I tried subtlely dropping hints in the LG accelerometer threads on XDA but they just ignored me haha.  Those guys that were messing with the incite accelerometer and got it working could do it I'm sure.  If I recall correctly one of them even messed with it and eluded that they could.  Maybe if more people posted in the thread quoting the post that had the expo acceleromter attached asking if they could try to work with it they might put some interest to it.  Here's the thread

Worth a shot.

it is possible without lg releasing there sdk...and we wouldnt need to make a wrapper. We would need to make a substitute HTC driver dll that would call the lg dll...
