Here's what I'm doing.

1. Download Dark's file
2. Open Dark's file on computer with winzip
3. copy 'Sounds~1.000' and '_setup' to my storage device on my LG IQ
4. Start>File Explorer>Storage Card
5. Double-click '_setup'
6. Wait for screen to finish scrolling from install, exit out of Internet Explorer (where it opened)
7. Soft reset
8. Start>File Explorer>Application Data>Sounds where I add my wav file.
9. Start>File Explorer>Settings>Sounds and Notifications>Notifications> Event: There is no noew options.  Nothing has changed anywhere.

OK, A cab file, Is an Install file, its not a zip file for you to be messing around in.

You run a cab file on the hand held unit, not your PC.
Its an Executable file for Windows mobile devices.

Its for installing programs, drivers, and stuff related to itself.

Thats why its not working for you, Re-download Dark's Missing sounds an Notifications CAB file.
Copy it onto the IQ, transfer it, how ever you get it there, then once its copied onto the phone, use the file explorer on the PHONE, and click on it, It will run and install them files that are contained inside it properly as its meant to do.

Then your options will appear.

Just a heads up, Usually all of programs you install on your IQ/Phone, will come in a CAB file, you just copy them onto the device an click on them to run them.

Like the Total Commander Or Cecmd.cab I provided, You just run it on the phone an it installs the program mentioned.

That Cecmd is a File Explorer program I gave you to use for things like this instead of the default file explorer on the hand held that comes with Windows mobile.

I read your post closer an I see your using file explorer to find the settings on the phone?
lol no

Settings are controlled through the GUI itself.
Files like sound files, you use a file explorer type of program to navigate to where to copy your new sounds to, then thats it.
Then, you use the GUI's Start Menu in the top left of your today screen, then goto settings, then goto Sounds and notifications and change the options there.

First, Install Dark's cab file, Soft reset phone.

Second, Copy the particular sound file you want for SMS into the Applications/Sounds folder using a File explorer program.(Total Commander)

Third, Goto, Start Menu/Settings/Sounds & Notifications and Adjust your options for the events there.
(On your today screen, not using a file explorer program)

I hope you see what I'm saying now  Wink

Ok, so that was the problem.  When I saved Dark's cab, and saw it was a zip file, I assumed to open it.  My mistake.  This time I just saved to my computer and cut and pasted it onto my storage card.  It installed properly.

Thanks!

OKay earlier in this post, the "root directory" of a storage card was mentioned...does that mean i just would place whatever sound in mp3 format there(in no folder), and it will appear as a ringtone option that i can select???

That is correct jsauce. You may also create a "My Ringtones" folder in the root directory and place the mp3's in there to keep them all together and they should still be selectable as ringtones.

If you want to use them as tones for text messages or alarms you should place them in a folder called My Documents in the root of the SD card.

Its not working...i can use it for text alerts and contact alerts(ringtones), but not as alarms...i set my alarm from the lg idles screen. Do i need to set it to the original screen menu? I also tried setting my alarm going to the clock/alarms using the start menu...no different. Do i need to redo the missing sounds notification option(woodhole tweaker)??
