Wm used to force us to use Wav files for alarms.

Though its not like that anymore, for the most part.

LG's clock an Alarm though, may still prefer to have Wav files for its alarm.

If you use WM's clock an Alarms, they will accept non wav files.

Just a couple ideas.

PS.Any sound files on the storage card, will be picked up by Windows media player as a music selection, so I keep my sound files in /Application Data/Sound, on the phone itself. (Back up sound files, I keep zipped in a folder on my storage card.)
Then their not scanned as a media file for music playback.
Though if, you have 50mb or more of sound files, it will eat into your storage on phone.
Really though, how many tones can you use at once or change that often...

If it still is not working, another option you could consider is using G-alarm, which is much better than the standard WM alarm IMO. I attached the link below for another thread containing version 1.5, which is the last version it was still freeware:

V1.5 pretty much has all the basic features you would need, however, if you do like it you could consider getting the latest version which has additional features from the link below:

Great thinking Modry, forgot about G-Alarm.

Good alternative indeed.
