Hello. I hate the mobile IE and always use opera. I was wondering if there was a way to change the default browser... maybe even replace the home screeen accordingly.

If there isn't a way to do this now will there be sometime soon? Could I just uninstall mobile IE altogether or would i have problems down the road?

Most browsers will have an option in their settings to make it the default browser. Right now I have skyfire as my default.

Opera will ask you if you want to set it as a default right after it installs. Just uninstall then reinstall.

Oh actually it was already defaulted to opera... See what I want is for IE to be gone from the LG Idles. I'd like to actually replace the ie icon with opera but don't know how and isn't even sure if it's possible yet. So if all else is not possible then next i'd ask if it was possible to uninstall IE completely without any issues.

Unless someone figures out how to hack LG Idles then there is no way to remove it. You can't uninstall IE either since it is part of the rom. You could delete the components of IE from the windows folder, but I don't recommend it. I once cooked a rom without IE and there were problems since there are parts of the OS the depend on it.

Same topic, different issue: Somehow, I'm not sure how, IE got set back to the default browser launched when I click a link in my email or a text message instead of Opera Mobile the way it has been. Is there a UI route to switch it back, or do I need to dive back into the registry again?

RogueCheddar, Have you double checked to make sure IE didn't reselect itself in its own settings before changing it else where?

Apparently, Opera Mini for Windows Mobile doesn't seem to have a way to set it as the default web browser on my phone.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and it did not ask me to set it as the default.  Anyone else find a way to get Opera Mini for Windows Mobile as the default web browser on the system?

WR - made sure IE was de-selected as default - no change. Even selected Skyfire as default and that took, but can't seem to get Opera Mobile or Mini to be the default again.  Huh
