How to do a HARD RESET

There seems to be some confusion on how to do a hard reset, and the manual is less than clear on the subject.  I have found that the following works every time to reset.

To hard reset you device do one of the following:

1) If you can get to the start menu:
               Go to Start/Settings/System/Clear Storage, select Delete Internal Memory. 
               When it warns that all settings will be deleted, say yes, and your device will be reset.

2) If you have gotten your device into a state that you cannot get to the start memory:
               Turn your device OFF, by holding the on/off button for about 5 sec.
               Push and hold in this order
                                      Volume Down
                                      Multitask
                                      End Call
                                      Power ON
                Continue to hold all four buttons down until the indicator light cycles
                             Red/Green/Blue several times, and then goes to the LG welcome screen.

You will know you are successful when your device starts with the Windows "Tap your screen to set up your windows device".

It goes without saying that when you hard reset you lose all your data and have to reinstall everything

On page 102 of the manual it says to power the device off first -though reading the hieroglyphics that follow is hard. 
As a second confirmation, I did have to hard reset my phone this morning, so I did it about five times and checked out the different things you can do.  It worked every time as above.

Nice to know for future reference. Thanks for the find. Now if we can figure out how to put it into emergency download mode without using the LG updater program.

Sounds like a partial hard reset.

Try again, hold the buttons in order, and wait for lights to cycle three times I think it is.

If not pull battery, and restart the hard reset sequence all over from off.

Set up? Sorry I don't understand, you  mean as in set up your device?

A hard reset once started only takes a minute or two.

To set up the device to stock and boot up takes about 4-5 minutes after that, then the tweaking.

Hmm, Something wrong here....

When we say watch for the lights to flash at least three times, I mean it cycles through a gamut of colours then repeats itself, I believe it was three cycles of flashes then you can let go...

I haven't done a HR through buttons in a bit, theough I believe that is all there is to it.

I'd pull battery, re-install and re-attempt it again.

Just like it says right? and it boots to the windows screen an hangs and never proceeds from there?

If you pull the battery an re-insert it again and hit power, does it go to the same point?

Its not plugged in while doing this correct?

It may not be a lost cause yet..
