Thanks to Crazyfinger over at XDA, we now know how to make apps like Opera or other things that can show in landscape if you open the keyboard, autorotate, without opening the keyboard.

This calls for a little reg editing..

in HKCU/Software/LGE there is a RotateManager entry.

under HKCU/Software/LGE/RotateManager/Exclusive/App/ there are entries for all the programs like Internet Explorer that auto rotate.

All you need to do is copy the entries for one of those to a new key for each of the programs you want to auto rotate.

For instance I now have my Opera10 beta 2u browser autorotating.

I created under

HKCU/Software/LGE/RotateManager/Exclusive/App  a key called Opera with the following entries:

Dword: AccelSensor   Value 1
DWord: Priority          Value 20
String: Process          Value Opera10-armv4i.exe
DWord: SlideSensor     Value 1

I think this should work for almost anything that changes orientation when you slide the keyboard.  You do need the process name for each program you want to rotate (the process name for the Opera I am using is Opera10-armv4i.exe).

After the reg edit, you will need to do a soft reset.

cheers

Yes you can. I use it when I'm not near a computer to use CERegEditor.

I wanted to see if there was an on screen keyboard in landscape mode so I used this trick to get tmail to auto rotate. For those that were wondering there is no on screen keyboard in landscape. I guess this makes sense since we have the slide out keyboard, but I was still curious and had to try it.

Hi Dark

Very interesting.  When I used my Touch Pro, some programs would trigger the landscape keyboard, and some others didn't.

Does thins mean that the phone literally doesn't have a landscape keyboard, or just that tmail doesn't call it?

I guess when I think about it, the reason the TP has the landscape keyboard is because it has such a close "twin" in the diamond, and so it got some of the diamond software, that required one.

ps
Now I am thinking a bit more...just put word in landscape by pulling out the keyboard, and in the TP you could pull up a on screen keyboard or other gesture reading input with a softkey at the bottom of the screen.  I used it sometimes to have special characters available when I was typing something that need lots of them.

With our phones it just shows an indicator for the caps and fn lock.

Good point madfatter

I see now it's the X9 keyboard that doesn't have a landscape mode,  the other inputs that are built in, and others you might install, work - although the built in ones don't really have a special landscape mode, just the portrait mode centered on the bottom half of the screen.

Very interesting. I guess LG figured it wasn't needed since we have the slide out keyboard.

Hey all. This thread is awesome and the info is oh-so useful. Thank you! So far I've done:

Opera: Opera10-armv4i.exe
Google Maps: GoogleMaps.exe
Adobe Reader: AdobeReaderLE.exe
File Explorer: fexplore.exe
Word: pword.exe
Power Point: ppt.exe

I'm trying to get "Messaging" (the big list of all the email accounts and text messages), And SPB Mobile Shell to work with this registry tweak. Anyone know the app names for those? They both seem to have a few different things they could be, so I'll keep playing with them and if I find them, I'll post them here too. Thanks!

Hey nightbirddesigns,

Messages: tmail.exe
Mobile Shell: MobileShell.exe

If you press the multitask manager button, go to menu on the bottom-right and select task manger, then in the task manager, go to menu->view->processes you can see the processes running.

Hey nightbirddesigns,

Messages: tmail.exe
Mobile Shell: MobileShell.exe

If you press the multitask manager button, go to menu on the bottom-right and select task manger, then in the task manager, go to menu->view->processes you can see the processes running.

AWESOME!

...And you know what? As soon as I read your post, I started making the tweak. Messages worked but Mobile Shell did not for me. Weird, but I wasn't discouraged. I started digging around and looking at miscellanesous keys, and then I found ...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>AccelSensor>DWORD: SensorEnabled - I changed the "0" to "1"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>AccelSensor>DWORD: TransMode - I changed the "0" to "1"

Now EVERYTHING auto rotates, but that may not be suitable for everyone. Like it was stated above, there isn't a software keyboard in landscape mode, but that's exactly the behavior I want. For quick text input I have no problem using the slider, I just didn't like being FORCED to slide out the physical keyboard whenever I wanted landscape mode, like when viewing video or surfing, or simply enjoy the landscape interface. If someone else wouldn't mind trying those two keys above to verify that it was actually them and not some fluke that gave me the results, it would be much appreciated. Thanks again for all the info and help!

I believe if you want global rotation.

HKEY/CU/SOFTWARE/LGE/ROTATEMANAGER/EXCLUSIVE/STATE/SLIDEOPEN

AND IN

HKEY/CU/SOFTWARE/LGE/ROTATEMANAGER/EXCLUSIVE/STATE/SLIDECLOSED

Set Accel sensor here to "1"

Under both keys, then absolutely everything rotates.

The key you were in, you can set the delay, mines at 50.
(Updated-Changed to AdjustDelay100,Modechangedelay75-Works smoother for me)

Peace

WR
Editted ato add, Also, amy want to equalize the priority setting between the two keys, open is at 50, closing at 30, mines no 50.

Anyhow i have set mine individually like the thread, as well again.

Some may like global, its not bad, just not for me.

Rotating really dosnt interest me as much as using the accelerometer for games and applications that use it for input other then just orientation.  If anyone knows how to make it actually output to 3rd party applications id love to know how
