Hi all, i have an unlocked Expo which i am not using right now since i upgraded to WP7. I have a friend who is on the Verizon network and his blackberry is not working, i wanted to let him use my expo until his account is up for renewal in february but when we replaced his vodafone sim card into my expo it wouldnt gain a signal and gave an error message saying "Sim Not Provisioned"

Is it possible to run the expo on verizons network and if so could it just be that sim card thats the problem?

To my knowledge it is not possible because I believe that they are using different bands on Verizon, then the eXpo is capable of accepting. So Unfortunately you will need to use a CDMA based phone (eXpo is HSDPA)

You may want to confirm this with a American as in Canada the networks are different.

Yeah, sorry to bust your bubble, but they run on different bands. I think its verizon and sprint that use CDMA, the only other one in the US that uses HSDPA is T-mobile. There might be some smaller carriers in your area that use HSDPA, for instance, I don't know what band metropc uses. But I do know Verizon doesn't.

The best option I can tell you, and I did this when I was on vacation and dropped my last phone is to go to a Verizon store and by a prepaid phone and drop your sim card in it and not the prepaid one. Might cost about 30 bucks for a basic phone, but it will work for a short while. Or he can just go in and ask if they can push up his renewal date, sometimes they can if you ask the right person.

Thanks for the reply guys. I figured since the expo is a quad band world phone and was unlocked it could work on pretty much any network. I'll let him know. I appreciate the input.
