I was wondering how everyone else has their expo set up for night time use.
When i go to sleep I want to be able to receive phone calls but dont want the expo ringing every time an email is downloaded and waking me up.

I dont want to turn the device off though, just receive a phone call or a text.

How do you have it set up to just allow incoming phone calls and block emails/internet updates (like weather) occurring, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

When you are adjusting the sound level (using the keys on the left side of the phone) you will notice there are 2 bars. the one on the left is for notices and the right is for the phone's ring volume. So if you lower the one on the left all the way down you won't hear any email or text etc. But if you are using the phones alarm, go to the alarm settings and set the alarm to sound even if the notice volume is muted.

hope this helps

Thank you, that should help alot, at least i wont get woken every few hours by incoming emails, but will still be able to hear the phone in case of an emergency,

I suppose there is no way to easily shut off the incoming emails, because even if notification volume is off the phone will still light up if an email is received, i am a light sleeper and this would be really annoying

If you go to sound and notifications, open notifications tab, scroll to new email and uncheck display message on the screen, it won't light up. I set mine like that but left the flash light setting. So the charge light flashes green when I receive email but it doesn't wake up the phone.

I use PhoneWeaver to adjust ring/sound profiles based on the time of day. I have a "sleep" profile that mutes new emails, but allow call and sms notifications after 11pm. It's not a free solution, but I have been a long time PhoneWeaver user, so I have gotten my money's worth.

Another solution is that in your emails account settings there is an option to schedule when to check emails i know for instance Hotmail using windows live build into our expos can check email during available hours i set mine from 11pm at night till 8am in the morning not to check my hotmail account. this way u get regular notifications when they matter the most to u at day time.
