Hi, I have not found a way around this but I was wondering if there is a way to store the text messages in an alternative storage place besides the sim card.  The sim card only holds 30 messages, and I'm constantly having to delete them because it fills up and I cannot get anymore text messages.  Is this just the way it is or has anyone found a solution?

Another thread went into some detail about this, not sure if it's the same exact issue you're having:

Thanks for the response!  I'm not using messenger or anything.  I'm just talking about texting back and forth to people, I can only hold 30 messages which seems very limited when this phone has a storage card and plenty of free internal memory.  I'd like to keep the conversations I am having, but am obligated to delete them once the sim card fills up, at 30 messages.  I'm hoping there is a way to set this phone to store the messages on the storage card or alternative to the sim card, and be able to store more than 30 messages at a time.  It's looking like it's not an option though, but I thought I'd ask.

have you tried:

At the message inbox

Select Menu
Select Tools
Select Options
Select 'Storage' tab at bottom of screen

Check the 'When available, use this storage card for attachements'

Well forget that as I realize that is for attachments now.  Which this is still a benefit as I'm showing 27 mb of attachments that would otherwise be stored on the main memory.

Sorry, that wasn't any help.

Why is it saving it to your Sim card?  It should be saving it to main memory. I was looking at the menu options within a text message and it has a 'Copy to Sim' option but that is not the default storage place.

This is nuts.  I'm now limited to 7 text messages before the sim card fills up.  I've looked through all of the menu settings under texting, and it shows no options for storage (except for attachments) to be changed.  I have plenty of free memory on the phone, but I guess my email uses the sim card to because I used to be able to hold 30 texts.  Or it could it be the contacts using up all the space on the sim card?  I've looked through everything that I can think of, but I can't find any option relating to any kind of sim card storage options.  I'm using the latest Dragonstorm rom by Dark.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have no where else to go...

This is indeed very odd. I also have looked through the settings and cannot find a way to change sms storage. I have a question: What carrier are you with?

Sorry I am using AT&T and using the LG eXpo phone.  I tried removing the sim card but that just disabled the AT&T network.  I did manage to see a couple of text messages still in the phone without the sim card which I found odd.  It was after I deleted them all to clear the sim.  Two new ones popped up shortly after making room.  Then I removed the sim card.  Do these things just float in space until it's destination is reached.  Cool

I find this odd. If the setting was on the phone, you would have fixed it when you flashed the Dragonstorm rom. That leaves the sim and whatever network you are using. I think we can rule out the network as my eXpo on AT&T stores the texts on the phone (I have about 500 now). Are you using the sim that came with your eXpo? 3G phones won't work right with old 2G sims, don't know if it would cause this. Although I hate to say it (type it?), you may have to get AT&T involved to resolve this.

I am using the one that came with the phone, I bought the phone off Amazon as AT&T was sold out and gave me the run around and charged way too much for it.  This morning it filled up on 3 text messages.  I'll give AT&T a call but this is nuts.  I'm using the windows live app to send emails as they arrive (be it 5-15 minutes late anyway) and just texts.  I don't know if this helps but I thought I'd try.  Your saying that your phone saves it to the phone by default?  I wonder why everytime I get x text message, this morning was number 3, it says the sims cards full and I won't get any new ones until I erase the texts.  I have not recieved any MMS's lately so that can't be it.  I have attachments to be saved to the sd card.  I'm calling AT&T then.  Thanks for your assistance, I'm so confused.

Ok after chatting with AT&T, it seems that the phone seems to have a defect that the reset are not fixing.  They even said it shouldn't be saving to the sim card.  I apologize for my ignorance as this is my first phone to use a sim card, I just use it and didn't realize something's not right.  They are going to send me a replacement reconditioned one within the next 7 business days.  Thanks again for everyone's help here.  I'll let you know how it goes in the future.   Shocked

Just got the new phone a few hours ago, zagged it and dragonstormed it (thanks Dark and everyone else for their help), and now after tinkering I do see it for the better.  The sms text messages now have a different symbol when selecting a message.  What was before just a plain single brownish envelope item now appears a two envelopose overlapping in yellow, which is what the emails symbol look the same except that one's in orange.  I now have a history of texts, almost like keeping a conversation.  Also I've noticed the exchange server with hotmail seems be a lot quicker; whereas I had to use the windows live app to wait 5-10 minutes, the exchange setup seemed to take closer to 20.  No more using windows live for email, and seemingly instantaneous, no way!  Further testing is required.  So is this how it was always supposed to be?   Shocked

Glad to hear you got a healthy Dragon. All three of my eXpos have worked like that as far as texting goes and the last two for exchange with hotmail.

Ok, the email activesync with hotmail is nowhere near instaneous on here, I must have just gotten lucky.  I sent myself an email recently-20 minutes later finally manually synced it through active sync and send/recieve, and got the email within a minute.  It seems to be very unreliable.  I've sent numerous times throughout last night and today, and it's seemingly very unreliable.  How is it working for you guys?  Getting off topic here and could move this if necessary, but thanks for any input.  Text's are working fine though!
