Anybody know how to do this? i fat finger all the icons so there is NO way I will ever use the annoying keyboard that pops up everytime I get a text.

search for null keyboard on xda...the solution is to either make the keyboard very short (1 pixel) or install one that does nothing.

Let us know what you install and how it works.....also back up your device before you install, somebody reported a locked up device that required a hard reset when they changed the default keyboard to a external one..was probably issues with the keyboard though....

Have you tried the half-qwerty keyboard in portrait?

If not, Hit function then delete on the keyboard an it switches.

If so, disregard my comment.

I cant remember where in the settings u can turn off the automatic popup of the keyboard.
but I know its there. It never lets the keyboard come up unless u press the button.

Well i hope this works for you as it worked for me. What i used was the same hack for the HTC fuze on my LG expo and it worked

The following registry key must be sought

HKCU->ControlPanel->Sip
in here you should see a bunch of  DWORD names
you will need to add the following DWORD name
TurnOffAutoDeploy and set the value to 1 i havent had the keyboard pop up after i soft reset my device. Then again i just did this 10 minutes ago so lets see if it lasts.
