Hi, new owner of an IQ with telus.  I was wondering what sites people have used to unlock their IQ/expo or other methods if there are.  I've gone to a few site but they've given me incorrect codes/refunded me my money.  I hope someone would be able to give me a hand.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello! Hope your enjoying your IQ, as am I.

Unfortunately I dont think our phones can be unlocked at the current time... I hate to say but I have tried seeing if someone who unlocks hundreds of phones at a flea market could...he couldnt. I think it has to do with TELUS being new to SIM cards but I cant say for certain.

Sorry I cant help you any better Sad

I dont know if this helps or not but i am with AT&T and i called them and asked for the unlock code and they just gave it to me. They asked why i wanted it and i just told them that it would add value to the phone if i sold it. I bought my phone from Amazon fully paid for and i believe thats why they gave it to me because the phone was not under contract with them.

Hope this helps.

There was somebody on this board who bought an octopus box ($800) for the sole purpose of unlocking his LG IQ.

I am not sure if he subsequently planned to setup an unlocking site. You could look through the boards and try and PM him for more info.

The only problem with the octopus box is that it is a physical unlock. i.e. you physically need to connect the phone to the octopus box.

Also you can try mobileincanada.com which I have used before and generally has a good reputation.

I think in canada one of the issues with unlocking the phone is that the databases are usually controlled by the carrieris.

edit: ... always read the preview/warning that someone posted while writing Embarrassed

At one time there was talk of a law similar to the one in the US, basically requiring carriers to provide unlock codes after so many days, but I don't know what happened to that.

I have multiple lines with them with 7 years of contract history.

I know what your saying though, its not like they'd lose anything at all.

Smart-ass lol.

Sorry I been gone too long as I been looking into other phones. The idea of creating an unlocking site was not what I intended now if those who live near me locally then yes I could unlock their phone but there is just a limited number of people who have the phone just was not worth it  Sorry! Currently I'm just using the expo as Portable Media Player

For those who live in Toronto and know where Pacmall is, okay, it's technically in Markham... Anyway, there's a few shops in there that does it for $ 20-25 bucks, takes about 15 mins.  I didn't do it yet as I didn't want to void my warranty until the one year is over.
