I purchased this phone with the promise that after 30 days I could cancel the smart phone package.  That was untrue.  I love this phone but cannot afford another $30 on top of my already enormous cell phone bill.

Is there any way I can keep this phone and get the package removed?  Does unlocking solve this problem?

Don't quote me on this, but where I'm from (Canada on Telus Network) you have to have a smart phone/data package to be able to get this phone for cheap i.e. on a contract. The only other way to avoid the data package is to buy the phone outright like I did. I believe it was like 499.99 retail when I got it, it should be cheaper now.

I got it for cheaper because my brother got me it at cost + 10% and I'm just on pay-as-you-go (I hate being locked in) only downside is no MMS but there was a problem with MMS anyway on the phone.

Other than that, since you're past 30 days (no return/exchange or cancel plan) I think you might be S.O.L. Sad

I have time to exchange still and am going to do that, but just really want to keep this phone.  Even if I bought this phone outright I would still have to pay the $30 per month only because it a smart phone.

K cool. I'm glad you still have time to figure out what the best available option is. If you can just cancel your plan and keep the phone (paying the difference of course) that would be perfect!

Don't forget to look around the forums after, with all the mods and tweaks there isn't much you can't do with this phone Smiley

I'd start with Woodhole's Tweaker program (it's a must have) then maybe a custom ROM...

Anyways...if you have anymore questions feel free to ask away!
