Hey guys, just got mine about a month ago and am luvin it  Grin
Did a lot of research(as with most things) before I bought it.
It has it's quirks, but so far it has been what I wanted and quite and upgrade from my old BB 8310.
Glad to find a site dedicated just to this phone, as it has so many features! lol
Hopefully you guys can help me out with a few of them as my phone seems to have quite a few problems.

I'm Johnny
Thank you everyone  Wink

Hi Johnny, and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you.

Since you're a research-before-you-do kinda guy like me, you've probably been poking around on here and gotten some questions answered for you already :-)  Feel free though to ask anything that a little searching hasn't turned up the answer to yet - we've got a pretty helpful and knowledgeable bunch of folks here.

Woodhole's Tweaker app (the link is in my signature) is where I'd recommend starting first - a lot of the tweaks and tricks discovered on this forum have been all rolled up into on user-friendly app there.

Enjoy your new eXpo!  Going from a BBerry Curve to the eXpo is sort of like going from a 4-door sedan to a race car - you just have to learn to handle it a little differently ;-)

Hey! Thanks RogueCheddar

and yes! I have been looking around, and wow, so much information lol!
I figure I fix my problems first before I start tweaking the phone as I don't know how to do that. . . yet lol.

I guess my biggest problem is that my phone is missing a lot of the applications that I think were supposed to come on the phone.
Looking through the Preinstalled Applications section I found the one I was looking for the most, the LG Calculator. Pretty sure all the others are there too.
Ony my phone, the little icons for them are visible under the LG Menu, but when I try to click some of them I get the following error:

"The file *application name* cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."

Would I have to reinstall each application I need one by one(there's a few) or is there a simpler way to do them all together?

Hmm, that's really kind of odd. Haven't heard of that happening before on a new eXpo. My best guess is that somehow your unit came without .NET CF installed, or it got corrupted somehow. Try this:

Download the SDKCerts file from this link (you may have to register at Modaco first)

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=46781

Once that file is saved on your eXpo somewhere, simply tap it to install. Then restart your phone.

Next, click on the link for Woodhole's Tweaker app from my signature - you don't have install it right now if you don't want to, but the instructions and links for installing .NET CF 3.5 are in the first post (just keep scrolling down, it's a long post). Once that is installed, yep, restart the phone again. Then try those LG apps once more.

Hope that helps, let us know.

Well I bought it used on ebay. The phone was scratch free with all original accessories and box, brand new pretty much.
But I will try what you recommended and let you know! Thanks!

Just a quick question.
Is this what you were referring to when you said .NET CF 3.5?

http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-software-updates/microsoft-net-framework-3-5/

Is this what I need?

Hey hustler539, Welcome to the forums,
(I got to get my piece in here too) Grin

About your links not working, that is odd, almost like its been modded or flashed maybe is what came to my mind, I wonder what version of window is on that?

Was thinking maybe you have bought someones from this forum that once had flashed their phone with one of our custom roms, as they have most of the LG stuff removed, most not all.

Probably not though, it'd be a long shot, though I will keep watching to see what you guys come up with.

In the end, its a good phone, we all use it an love it here.

WR, I was thinking along the same lines after seeing the eBay reference earlier - even if the phone wasn't flashed with a custom ROM, someone clearly got up to some mischief in there.

@hustler539 - Yes, I was referring to the .NET compact framework 3.5 from the thread you linked to.

BUT after reading your other reply again, I think the previous owner tinkered with your eXpo a bit and, not knowing what all they may have done, your best bet might be to back up everything you have added to that phone and then flash either the original eXpo v10d ROM or the v10g updated ROM from LG. There are threads on the forum here with detailed instructions to do either.

MS MyPhone from the Marketplace is great for backing up all your contacts, text msgs, etc. The included Sprite backup utility on the eXpo (assuming that's there on yours) is good for pictures, music, etc as well but UN-check the option to backup System data.

Ah ok. I had everything ready to do what you originally suggested RC. Guess that won't be necessary now.
I was reading about the ROM flashing earlier too   Wink
just hope it's not too difficult.
I got the My Phone app up and running like you suggested, gonna take a bit since I wanna keep all my txts, which is quite a few lol   Cheesy
(btw, awesome app, easy to use)

Once I flash the ROM, I would like to get the newer one(v10g?). I have v10d. Maybe that solves some of my other issues like temporary freezing when trying to exit txt messaging and lately my phone kinda forgets to give me an audible notification for txts as well. I found if I go to sound notifications and play the selected audio tune, this fixes the problem, for awhile anyway.

And WarRaven, under system information it's listed as Windows Mobile 6.5 5.2.21749

Hopefully I can get to this today and let you guys know the results.

Thanks guys!!  Grin

That lag exiting your text messaging is a well known issue, and had to do with how many messages you have piled up in there. Keep it down under 200 or  less, and the lag pretty much vanishes.

And if you need to have access to more texts than that, you can use my phone to archive them online. You still have access through the my phone web page but have no lag when reading what you keep on the eXpo.

The flash to v10g did the trick. All apps are working now  Grin
Feels a bit odd having the start menu button at the top left now and everything looks different now. But oh well, I figure I'll get used to that.
I have full use of the phone as originally intended and I'm happy about that  Smiley
and thanks for the tip vanilla g, I've got my thousands of txts archived now lol

Thanks guys!

There was definitely a custom ROM on there then.
