Hi! I'm Seajay.
I bought a brand new LG IQ in the spring, through Telus here in Canada. It's my first smartphone, so it's been taking me this long to figure out its whistles & bells.
I was so happy today, to find this forum, because I know that the IQ is a good phone, but my lack of know-how with it can get frustrating at times.

Before I start hurling questions at all you nice people here, I'm going to read through the forum, as I'm sure you have already supplied answers to most of the things I'm wondering about.

My most pressing concern is the very short battery life. I don't use the phone often but it still requires charging every day. That's not how it was advertised. When it is charging, it becomes quite hot.
I'm not sure if this is normal.

Anyway... nice meeting you. I can see I have lots of reading to do here.  Smiley

Welcome to the forum seajay. Reading is always a good way to learn. There is a lot of info here. You may want to check out the Tweaker app. One of our members, Woodhole has compiled many of the registry edits shared in the forum into a great, easy to use application. He recently rewrote the instructions to make it easy as pie to install. When you feel you are ready for a custom rom, our excellent chefs have you covered there as well. If your reading leads you to more questions, don't be afraid to ask. Take a look around and have some fun. You'll be glad you did.

Welcome Seajay!

I also have to charge my phone every day, but I consider this to be normal given the 1 Ghz snapdragon processor, and my phone becomes quite warm when it is charging as well. It's just something I have been willing to live with in order to have the flexibility offered by Windows Mobile on this platform.

As the people said above, there is a lot of advice in the posts, and many of these people are incredibly brilliant when it comes to programming and configuring these phones. Have fun!

Hello fellow Telus user Smiley

I'm getting around 1.5 - 2 days out of mine and I use it regularly. I was getting about a day on the original rom and that increased with all the mods/tweaks and one of Dark's the new roms.

Not to toot Tweaker's horn but the most annoying thing about the IQ for me was the way it handled SMS. The Expo didn't have this issue. If you want 'normal' txt msg'in get Tweaker if for anything, just for that tweak Smiley

Anyway, welcome to the forums. As already stated, a great bunch of people on here with great support.

Hi seajay, I just want to add to the guys, and Welcome you to the forums as well Wink

I/we understand about needing resources like this place, an you found the right place to make your phone very kool, with Woodholes tweaker an Dark an others Roms, it really makes the phone, what it should have been out of the factory, though, in this case, its better then anything they can do hehe.

As Woodhole said, battery life will improve, naturally from the battery breaking in over a couple weeks to the newer roms that are clean an lean compared to the original factory rom.

Well, you got a sweet phone, now to customize it, an have fun.

Oh, An have fun on the forums too.

Peace
