Welcome to the forum. First thing you want to check out is a program called Tweaker by our very own Woodhole.

http://www.lg-expo.com/third-party-lg-expo-applications/expoiq-tweaker/

If you feel the hunger for a new rom, our chefs have some tasty treats available. I think you made a good choice with the eXpo and then another by joining the forum. Have a look around and have some fun with your new Dragon.

Regular settings are located in the Start Menu (upper left hand corner of any screen), in, obviously, the Settings folder.
HKEY refers to a more advanced group of settings known as the registry (divided into three groups, HKEY Local Machine, HKEY Current User, and HKEY Root). You need a registry editor (or a file explorer with built-in registry editor) in order to manipulate these settings.

That an eye opener, i need a registry editor! Whatever that is, but im assuming it does helps me see the hkey thing. Where do i find that?

Okay so i saw that in order to load the Tweaker, i need the 3.5 net thing, so i downloaded the setup for it. On the dl page it mentions i need microsoft visual studio 2008...whats that about and do i need it?

OKay, so lets say thats set(visual studio 08), how do i go by installing the must current version of the tweaker by woodhole(march 2010). I read the instructions, but im not sure what and how(do i need the registry editor or other programs to make mods to my phone?)

Guys im really green at these things, and im asking a whole lot so as to better myself.

You do not need a registry editor. At this stage of the game it is probably not a good idea. I recommend getting Tweaker up and running. Tweaker will modify your registry and most changes can be undone using the program. Visual Studio is not required, just .net 3.5. Transfer the attached cab file to your eXpo. Use file explorer to navigate to it. Click on it to install it. It will allow you to use Tweaker.

Let us know if you need more help.

OKay so where do i drop the attatchd cab? (where on the expo?) and what about removing the older 2.0 version thats currently on my phone, how do i remove that or is it best to leave it on the phone?

Double checking, all this is done with the phone connected to my pc right?

And thanks to you and everyone that is helping me get the most out of my expo! Smiley

Connect the phone to the PC to transfer the cab file. It really doesn't matter where you put the file. Just somewhere you can find it when you look for it on your eXpo. Don't worry about .net 2.0, it does not need to be removed. You don't need to have the eXpo connected to the PC to install the cab file.

Thanks for all your help vanilla-g, but i had another question. Is there a difference between the file that i downloaded here: http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-software-updates/microsoft-net-framework-3-5/ and the one you offer in your attatchment? I was planning taking the one i downloaded, stick it in somewhere i can locate, then disconnect the phone from my pc, and run the setup for net 3.5.

Then do the same with the the tweaker application. Sound about correct?

You end up getting the same results. However the one you linked to is a program that you run on your PC with the eXpo attached. The one I attached runs from your eXpo, so does the Tweaker ap. If you already downloaded the msi file, attach your eXpo to your PC and run the msi. Then put Tweaker somewhere you can find it, disconnect your eXpo and install it. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Jsauce23, Welcome to the forums like the guys said. Wink

As well, welcome to WM and the Expo, Great little phone and a community of help.

Woodhole's tweaker program takes all the great reg edits an snowballs it into a fine program, its a must have as discovered.

Anyhow, take your time with it, and have fun too.

Peace

Okay so i have compiled about a half dozen cab files to be able to load woodholes tweaker...the 3.5 net upgrade, but to run that i need these other files as stated here: http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-software-updates/microsoft-net-framework-3-5/?PHPSESSID=0b2dc21fa2068f58ea8cef0763759b4f    and i dont have much of an idea of how to go about it now...thought it was simpler or am i just getting confused? Is anyone in the area i live or know the type of person who would successfully make all this happen? Lemme know! Ive read the pdf file with the instructions, but theres a lot of vocab and or things mentioned there i dont comprehend.  Definitely not computer savy here.

Tweaker will replace almost all the cab files you are looking at. You don't need mortscript, you don't need visual studio. You don't need the CT810 tweak cab, it was written for the Incite, not the eXpo. You need to install .net 3.5 (either by cab or msi) and then install Tweaker. Then run Tweaker. If you have questions about which boxes to check, post back. I think once you get Tweaker fired up, you will understand what I have been trying to get across.

Very nice woodhole! So im gonna place the cab file on my phone and then use my phone to run it, and do the same with the tweaker file....Right? Si? Correct? Im just nervous

***hopefully as a final note, the tweaker is in a zipped file, so i extract files using my phone(disconnected from my pc now) and it should run the tweaker automatically? I ask because i see several things in the zipped file and wondering if i have to choose a specific one.

Again guys, thank you so much, im anxious to get my phone tweaked.

No need to do anything with "zip". Cab files are to Windows Mobile as '.exe' are to PC's. Simply get the '.cab' files on your device and run them, that's all it takes. On a PC '.cab' files appear as zipped files but don't un-zip them, they become useless Smiley

No need to be nervous, it's all good! ...so they tell me Wink
