Hey all!!

I just purchased the eXpo.  I haven't even received it yet.  But...After doing my research, this looks like the best Windows Mobile phone available.  I had a Tilt, but wanted to catch up with the rest of the world.  Windows Phone 7 is still "beta" much like Android.  Not to mention how expensive the phones for that OS are!   Shocked

I have had WM for quite some time, and use some programs that I just cannot live without.  I have a list program that is Out of This World!  They don't make it for Android or Java-based phones...just WM, Blackberry, and the iPhone.

I am slightly concerned about the reviews on the speaker volume being low.  The HTC forum came out with a cab file for their wm phones.  I wonder if it will work for this phone? Huh  I did save it on my computer, but I worry that it might cause a problem.  I searched this forum, and didn't find any help on the subject.  Maybe I just didn't use the correct terms.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.  I look forward to learning all there is to learn about my new phone.

You have made a great choice on the expo buddy! By the way welcome to the forums on behalf of me and everyone here, your going to find you spend quiet some time here hahahaa

Now continuing on with your concerns. I did not exactly understand them all however I do know that unless its a widely released app, most applications found on HTC forums will NOT work on this phone, mainly if they require the use of certain hardware fetures. So if its a fairly open application like say a game it is worth a try, but if it is a specific game then it will not perform fully.

Anyways hope all goes nicely once you get your phone, you know WM so you should know exactly what your doing on this babby Cheesy

As Eric said, welcome to the forum. Once you have received your new Dragon, there are a couple of things you should do to train it. First, check out Woodhole's Tweaker. It is any easy way to apply some very important tweaks and will make your Dragon fly. Then, if you feel up to it, check out what our rom chefs have cooked up. Very tasty and flashing should be no problem for a WM veteran. I do not have an issue with the volume of the speaker, my Dragon wakes me every morning when it's time to get up. As for music, it's probably not the best I've heard, but it's not the worst either and there's always bluetooth if you listen to your phone a lot. We got some really good people here who are always willing to help and there's lots to read and learn on the forum. Have a look around and have some fun.

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I am really looking forward to learning from the experience of all who have come before me.

Yes...I do know Windows Mobile well.  I was constantly trying new Roms on my Tilt.  I will be researching all the info available here...but it looks like it is gonna take a very long time.  Then again...That's half the fun of having a new "Toy".

Oh!  BTW...I only heard about possible speaker volume issues on the reviews.  It was mentioned in more than 1 of them.  I think they were talking about the "Speaker-phone" volume.

The phone is supposed to arrive tomorrow!!! Grin  I will keep ya'll posted.

I got my Expo, and flashed Darks latest rom.  All I can say is...WOW!

The AT&T stores in my area have never even seen one of these phones before.  If I hadn't been doing some research online, I would never have found such a wonderful device!

I hope I never have to get rid of it!

Angry Well, I have had the phone for 1 week.  The touch screen CRASHED!  I can only access the "Contacts" and "Call History", no matter where on the screen I touch!  I contacted LG, and they state that the warranty doesn't count because I didn't purchase the phone from an "Authorized Dealer".

I have tried everything!  I hard-reset the phone both ways....I used Woodhole's Tweaker...I re-flashed the OEM Rom...I have re-aligned the screen until I am blue in the face!  I even took the battery out and left it out for over 2 hours.  Nothing Works!

I have an email in to the person I purchased it from...but I fear this may be a lost cause, as the sale stated "No Returns".  They said it was only 5 weeks old, and that it was in "Mint Condition"!  It looks like it is in "Mint Condition"...but it doesn't act like it!

I purchased a "Square-Trade Warranty"...only minutes before the touch screen quit.

Please Pardon my Rant.  I am so very dissapointed.  The phone worked great...for 1 week.  How lame is that?

I hate to tell you this but, I had this problem. The problem was the touch panel malfunctioned with me. But with ME I had gotten it through TELUS with a warrenty... and they sent it out free of charge. I think you may need to replace your touch screen buddy Sad Sorry about the problems Sad

Well...I am going to throw everything I have at it.  Someone on another thread stated that all of a sudden, their screen started working again.  So, there may be hope yet!

I am beginning to think there may be a software compatibility issue, since I didn't have any trouble until I loaded security software.  I am hoping that by writing down exactly what I have done to correct the problem, I can help someone else in this same predicament.  Huh

This is what I have done that seemed to help:

I let the phone sit "OFF" for at least 8 hours.

I downloaded the "fixed" Stock Rom by Dark, and flashed it.  It is V10d.  Then did a hard reset (the difficult way...you know, all 4 buttons at once?)

Then I took the battery out for about 10 seconds.  Put it back in, and went back into emergency download.  Then I flashed the LG "Stock Upgrade"...V10g.  Then did another hard reset.

I then connected to my pc to load all my "personnal" stuff.  Also, I loaded NETCF 3.5 and Woodhole's Tweaker.  I only made 3 changes...'Set .Net 3.5 as default'...'Enable tethering (Expo)'...and 'Enables missing sound and notifications...'  I did not "uncheck" anything already checked.

I am trying to start slow.  I want to make sure everything stays working before I reflash Dark's Rom.  I love it, but don't want to have to reset the "Stock" rom if this doesn't stick.

These are the programs I loaded.  (I just have to have these, no matter what!):

Ilium ListPro
Foxingworth Repli
MrPants MonacoTorch
Astraware Bejeweled 2
Klaxton  (alarm program)

I did not load LeoCpuSpeed as, I don't really need my phone to be that fast all the time.
I also did not load the Advanced Config because that was 1 of the programs that I had loaded after the security program.  Just in case I did something...which I doubt, since I only changed font size in the pop-up screens, and locations of pictures and music.

SO FAR, SO GOOD!!!  I was able to play a game of Bejeweled with my finger.  (FYI, that is how I test the touch screen)

Cross your fingers, and hope all this hard work paid off!! Wink

Edit:   NO DICE!!  The screen is toast! Angry  Nobody can say I didn't Try.  I wonder if there is a manual on how to replace this touch screen.  There was 1 for the tilt.

That really sounds more related to software then hardware but Hey if all that didnt fix it, I think its just a lemon. And whats this hard way to hard reset?

That really sounds more related to software then hardware but Hey if all that didnt fix it, I think its just a lemon. And whats this hard way to hard reset?

While you are powering up, you have to hold down the down-volume, multi-task, and end buttons...all at the same time.  That is much more difficult than the "clear storage" icon in settings.

By the way, I am going to try to reset 1 more time, and not load Bejeweled 2.  I also suspect that the connection for the screen may be loose, but I don't know if I want to bother to try to take it apart.  I had a step-by-step manual to take apart my tilt, and actually replaced some parts on it.  However, without the manual, I am worried that I might cause more problems.   Cry

I told my husband that I was going to buy myself a "Brand New" phone for Christmas.  It will be an Expo...just not someone else's "throw-away".  The problem is that I will have to buy it online because the AT&T stores around here have never even seen this phone.  But if I buy it new...it should be covered by LG's warranty.  Maybe then, I won't have so many issues.  One can only hope.

You have been extremely helpful.  Have a great day!

Edit:  You were right.  It was a software problem.  Apparently, Astraware sent me a faulty cab.  I had requested a new registration code since I had purchased the program for my old phone.  It was WM and always worked fine.  They sent me a cab file instead.  I guess I have to live without it.  Cry

Cheesy On a Happy Note...I can now re-flash Darks Rom, and reTweak my phone!  Yea!!!  I might still buy a "Brand New, Never Opened" one.  I haven't decided yet.

 Angry
I am back to the same old problem!  The touch screen keeps crashing.  I did quite a bit of troubleshooting.  I found that the screen works fantastic if I always use a belt pouch/case.  The minute I put the phone in my pocket, the screen freezes and does not respond AT ALL!!  All pockets do the same thing, whether it is jeans, slacks, or a skirt.

This is not a software issue.  LG wants to charge me to fix the phone because I bought it from a "unauthorized dealer".  Square Trade won't cover it because it happened before their 60 day window was up.  PayPal won't help because it is after their 45 day complaint window.  I am totally SOL!

I took apart the phone and checked all the connections. (might as well, since no one will cover this problem)   Everything is connected properly.  I spoke to an IT person at work who suggested that it is a circuit board problem.  He thinks it is reacting to body heat and overheating.  I have never had a phone with this problem before!

HELP!?!?

This certainly seems like a horrible problem, my expo used to freeze sometimes in my pocket due to overheating but a soft reset by pulling the battery always solved that problem. The phone works fine unless you put it in your pocket?

Yep.  It works like a dream any other time.  For work, I use a belt case.  But, IMHO, it looks tacky to wear a belt case when I am dressed up.  When I put the phone in my pocket, the touch screen freezes.  Just doing a soft reset never fixes it.  I have to take the battery out for extended periods of time.  This is extremely inconvenient.
