As you might guess from my username I had a TreoPro (which is a WM phone...not the PalmOS), which I loved...but since it was never sold directly from AT&T it was a rare sight.  I knew parts and support were growing more and more impossible to get.  I moved to the Expo for the larger screen size and I think I'll come to love the larger keyboard (it takes a while to get used to that stuff).

I AM disappointed that I can't do THESE things:

...use "Internet Sharing"
...stop the "message sent" confirmations when sending a text mssg.
...charge the phone WHILE I'm using headphones.
...delete the annoying ATT programs (they're not even in the list of programs to remove...how wrong is that?)

I'm sure I'll learn a work-around for some of these things using these message boards.  But I do feel a little post-pardem (sp?) depression...to be perfectly honest.

So...that's my "not so short" intro.

Thanks to whoever started and maintains the site...the site I went to for my dead Treo was invaluable.

Hey OldTreoProUser. Welcome to the community. You choose a great phone. I saw that you are having a few issues that are fixable. First, getting rid of all the AT&T junk. Since there really isn't a way to delete it a fix would be to flash to a custom rom with all the junk cleaned out. There is a link in my sig for the Dragonstorm rom thread. A bonus to that is that the Internet Sharing is usable again in the roms. If you don't want to flash a rom then to fix internet sharing simply download and install Woodhole's eXpo/IQ tweaker app (link in my sig) and apply a the Internet sharing tweak or open up your favorite reg editor and go to the following entry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings]

Then delete the Forcecellconnection key and reboot the phone. You will now be able to choose your internet sharing connection setting.

To stop the message sent confirmation either download Advanced Configuration Tool and go to the messaging options and disable it (will require a soft reset) or edit the following reg entry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]

Then change SMSNoSentMsg to 0 and reboot the phone.

Unfortunately the only solution that has seemed to work for the charging while using headphones problem is to use bluetooth headphone. There have been those that tried finding or adapting splitters, but have all failed.

I hope this helps and good luck with your new phone.

Wow...Dark...that was shockingly helpful....I mean, assuming you're not directing me to download something that will make my phone explode.  LOL.  But, with a name like "Dark", how could I not trust you?

:-)

Since it's getting late I won't be starting on this tonight (you have no idea how many nights I stayed up trying to get the TreoPro to recognize the 3g network via a cab file that was in the works on the TreoPro site) but I will do it tomorrow.

I know I once downloaded a trial registry editor (which I'm saying wrong I think...but you know what I mean) but I forget which one it was.  It was like "File Explorer" but actually "explored" all files...unlike you-know-who.  I actually will buy this one...so I want to make sure I get the right one.  So...if you know which one I should get...let me know.

Again, thanks for your help...seriously.

No problem at all. I'm not sure which editor you are talking about, but I think total commander does this. Personally I use CeRegEditor which runs off your computer or PHM RegEdit which runs off the phone. Here is a link to a thread with CeRegEditor and instructions on how to use it.

There is also a link for PMH RegEditor in the second post of the thread. Best part about these programs is that they are free.

Welcome to the forum. Gotta say Dark is totally right about how easy it is to fix your biggest concerns. Been using Dark's roms for almost as long as he has. (My last device was an Incite and I followed him over from LG-Incite.com.) Tweaker is an amazing app. As far as reg editors, if you like to keep everything on your device, I can share some simple tools I got from a different member of that forum, Teaomi. There is a reg editor, a reg backup utility and a reg restore utility. Here is the post:

"Here are some very basic registry tools for anyone that is interested.
It has 3 files in that zip.
The first is a registry editor that is very simple but gets the job done.
The other two work hand in hand. One is a registry backup and the other one is the restorer.
There's no need to install anything, they are just exe's that you run on your phone.

for the regbackup and regrestore, before you can use them you will need to create a folder in the device root called "IPSM"

I got these from a Windows Mobile 2003 device and they seem to work pretty well for me, but user experience may vary.   Grin"

I have been using them for more than a year and have had good results. Anyway, have a look around and have some fun with that awesome new Dragon.

Just wanted to add my hello and welcome to the others. Don't worry about the "device post-partum blues", we've all been there. We picked the phones we did in the past because they had good features, and sometimes we miss a certain one (I know I miss the camera on my old SonyEricsson w810i at times - that thing took awesome pictures), but rest assured: you picked an awesome device with the Expo, and with a little tweaking and fine tuning I'm sure you'll come to consider it your best phone yet.
