Hello NVonShats and welcome to the forum! Glad to have you. You made a wise choice picking the eXpo and then coming here to learn how to make it as good as it can be.

Will these upgrades harm my phone in any way ... (referring to Tweaker and this special ROM that Dark made)
Both the Expo/IQ Tweaker and any custom ROM (not just Dark's Dragonstorm series) make changes to either the Windows Mobile registry and/or the files and file structure of WinMo itself on your phone. So, the short answer is: Possibly, But Not Likely.

Tweaks and custom roms CAN harm your phone if 1: they are installed improperly (aka: always follow all directions) or 2: they are poorly written to begin with (not a problem here). The good thing is, you can always restore your phone back to it's original condition. Unless, of course, you get into a hot tub with it in your pocket - there's no coming back from that  Wink

Click on the link for Woodhole's Tweaker in my signature - it won't start downloading, but will take you to the thread where what all it does and how to use it is discussed in depth.

Most smartphone are virtually crippled by the limitations the wireless carriers put on them, and the unrealized potential of most smartphones is hidden by manufacturers that err on the side of being cautious and over-conservative.

Leaving your eXpo "stock" is the equivalent of using a Formula 1 car to pull a cement mixer and never getting it up over 55 mph.    Grin

XP or Windows 7 are recommended for interfacing with Windows Mobile - Vista just has too many driver and compatibility issues for me to recommend it (even though that's what I'm stuck with currently) and ROM flashing won't work reliably or at all on Vista.

Hope that helps!

Hey NVonShats, welcome to the forum Smiley

RogueCheddar could not have put it better.
There's a ton of great information on this forum. Tweaker is simply a combination of everyone's discovered tweaks for this device. It simply changes the selected registry settings for that feature and in most cases can be unchecked back to its original settings (there are a few exceptions).

Anyway, have a look around and if there's something you can't find simply ask and someone should have an answer Smiley

Hello NVonShats, Welcome to the forums as the guys have said, sorry I am late to extend an greeting to you as well as a couple others, I was away sorry for that.

The guys have nailed your questions imo, and bang on.

Imo, use the phone for a week then use our tweaks an rom if your inclined.

Then you can decide if you want to step away from a stocker phone or not...

Peace

Hello, and welcome! I just received my Expo, and by following the steps on this forum, I was able to reflash my ROM, and apply the tweaks with no problems at all. And if I had any questions, the great people on this forum answered quickly and helpfully. You could not have come to a better place to learn to take control of your device!

Your only problem now is going to be deciding on how many of the thousands of improvements you want to install and use!

Have fun!

Hey NVonShats. Sorry for the late welcome. Well it seems everyone pretty much summed it up and RC did a great job answering your question. So welcome to the forum and I hope to see you around. Also if you have any question don't hesitate to ask.

I would guess that less then 3 people out of the 600 or so on this forum are using their phone in stock form.
