can anybody using the IQ give me an idea of what the telus hspa service is generally like. is is reliable?

i was with rogers. however, when i travel into northern ontario there is no gsm or hspa service. so my plan is to join telus and get a share plan using my expo in central and southern ontario and a new cdma phone when up north.

my options at this point are bell or telus and i am leaning towards telus. thats why i would appreciate IQ owners thoughts on the network.

Hi Keithyv, I can't help you with that end of the world, though Telus is the supreme commander in alberta.

It's pretty much covered except in the deep of the rockies.

I know others here are Eastern users and should be able to give you and idea what its like down there on Big-T.

Peace

thanks WR...

i have only been in canada for 3 and a half years, and i have to say that i am extremely disappointed in the state of canada's cellular networks and providers.

there doesnt seem to be any competition for non metro users. so eventually it breaks down to coverage and in northern ontario rogers can't compete with bell's and telus' cdma network.

Like WR said Telus reigns supreme here in Alberta. Only time I didn't have a signal was when we were at a baseball tournament and it was in the middle of nowhere in like a deep valley and you had to go up to the hill by the highway if you wanted to make a call haha.

Overall though, I'm quite happy with Telus, no dropped calls, clear signal. I'd give their new network a thumbs up Smiley

Sidenote: What's a metro user?

a non metro user for me is someone who doesnt live in a major or capital city.

in ontario it applies to anybody living north of Barrie.

should say, rogers service was pretty good at my home base approx. 4 hrs north of toronto. no good though when i travel north of Timmins.

rogers were pretty good about and reduced my early contract cancellation cost from $400 to $100. Having an unlocked device now gives me a freedom to choose. I am never going to sign a 3 year contract again.

Thanks for your replies guys. i think ill go with telus and change if it doesn't work out.

Yeah I hate getting locked into contracts too Sad

Glad to hear you're coming over to Telus. Hope everything goes well over in Ontario! *fingers crossed*
