I honestly don't think they will completely replace laptops.  I do think they will replace most netbooks though.  That will only happen if they have a full desktop class os and apps though.  Some people will always prefer a physical keyboard though.  I mean, just look at touchscreen phones.  They are still creating ts phones with physical keyboards.  I don't know how long that will last but many people still prefer them.

BTW, I just ran across the Archos 9 pctablet.  All I can say is I want one.

I really like this one. I prefer windows. Plus this one has a full OS. The others don't. I had a feeling Microsoft was leaning towards something like this when they made Win 7 touchscreen compatible.

I have used a laptop that you can turn the screen around and close it to make it into a tablet for several years ---it had XP tablet edition on it.  It was made by Gateway and was way thinner than the competing HP versions.

I like the concept and would by another....and would get it over a straight tablet any day because for some things a keyboard is just better imho....of course I own a phone with a keyboard too  Cheesy so YMMV..

Replacing the laptop? um don't think so. I need a physical keyboard to type on for many of the things I need do (Maybe some time in the future those laser projected virtual keyboards will catch on but that's a different topic.) If I don't have a desktop and just want to have one computer I'd pick a laptop.

I was hoping that the eXpo is going to be the device that I can use to access the web to wiki anything on the go, look up reviews for a product I see in a store or look up restaurant reviews when I just got out of a theater and thinking of where to grab food; but so far the experience isn't that great yet (maybe I need some better apps), accessing web pages is still sluggish at best, the screen is too small to make web browsing comfortable and typing with the keyboard (on screen or physical) is still cumbersome. Maybe slate devices are better suited for these use cases?

You should check out the U1 from Lenovo.  It has a slate (I think they called it a slab) and a full notebook in one.  When you remove the slate from the chassis it switches to a snapdragon processor running a custom Lenovo version of Linux.  While snapped into the chassis it runs a full Intel dual core processor and Windows 7.

Check it out:

vow, the U1 looks pretty nice. I spent some time looking it up and found an article on Gizmodo comparing different slates that are coming out.

The U1 looks very impressive. I like the concept. Points to Lenovo. Ever since they bought out IBM's Thinkpad they have been producing nice products.

I noticed that one earlier.  Very nice!

I'm pretty keen on this one:

I can't wait for more details and pricing!

Apple is a going the wrong way once again like back in the days, and the issue they have with flash and not working with adobe to make it possible, There's no multitasking in the OS at all, really lacking is a front-facing camera and video chat., Video support is very similar to what you find on the iPhone and iPod Touch - limited to 720p H.264 Main Profile, The 4:3 aspect ratio is convenient for using iPhone apps in full screen mode, but it's less desirable for media., If your computer with my iTunes account associated with it is on my local network, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to sync your iPad over Wi-Fi., and also blocking the word " android " from the app store , and the list goes on .. =  all adds up to " apple " that we know lol
