Just curious to what OS everyone uses. So I'll go first. I current use Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I was using Vista Ultimate x64, but upgrade. I have to say that win 7 feels, acts, and looks like a more complete version of Vista. It probably should of been called Vista 2.0 lol. I also have a desktop that runs XP Pro, but that machine is ancient. What interests me is the rumor that Windows 8 will support 128 bit.

Ummmm.... I need more room on here.....lol... here's the short list.

2 - Workstations, Win 7 Ultimate X64 (one was Vista Ultimate till about 3 weeks ago)
1 - Laptop Win 7 Ultimate X86
1 - SBS 2003 Server with Exchange X86
1 - SQL Server 2005 X64
1 - OS Stripped Win XP pro x86 (gamming rig... even IT folks need to have some fun, will probably reformate it to Win 7 one of these days)

... those are the home office ones. The rest of the family have their own (mostly Win XP Pro...they never liked Vista), I just get stuck having to maintain them. Won't even start with the work ones but it makes my home office look like child's play Smiley

...and to think, I'm responsible for them all... No wonder I never sleep! Smiley

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. I've used W7 since beta and previously before that XP. Never liked vista because of all the bugs and crap it had.

Vista wasn't too bad after they came out with SP2, but at first it had loads of bugs. I've use Win 7 since beta as well and I prefer it to vista any day.

Well, at home I have four machines running Windows 7 Home Premium 64, one running Windows 7 Pro 32 and two of those machines have hackintosh partitions.  I constantly mess around with different flavors of Linux but I always end up going back to Windows.  I'm kind of a reload-the-os junkie!  lol

At work we have 17 servers, 195 workstations and a dozen thin clients.  We recently bought a couple of the Acer Atom desktops and they are perfect for point-of-sale applications.  We also have three Exchange servers, three SQL servers and a web server.  Most of the servers are still 2003 a couple are 2008 and there is still one running 2000.  I need to replace the 2000 machine so I haven't bothered upgrading it.

Ah SQL server. Does this mean you know a little about it? or just install/config? (I want to know if you can join tables from 2 separate databases)

I'm not a programmer but I do have some limited sql skills.  Unfortunately I have to be in front of the enterprise tool to remember or figure it out.  I can probably find out for you tomorrow, my programmer is supposed to be in the office tomorrow.  He is not full time.  I will also take a look and try to figure it out, as soon as I get a chance in the morning.

Hey Tigertosser, I might be able to help. I’m forever playing in database’s. I write enterprise class MRP and ERP systems when I’m not playing around on here. PM me if you need help, if I don't know I do have resources that will for sure.

To answer the SQL question: basically, to join two tables in different databases, you need to create a common key and then establish a relationship (one-to-one, one-to-many, etc...) using that key.

You can actually attach both tables using Access and use the graphical relationship interface in Access if you want.
