We have heard about pico projectors being integrated into cell phones before, but the LG Electronics’ eXpo phone is the first phone to be released by a major manufacturer. The DLP based projector is an added accessory and is attached by taking off the battery cover and putting the projector in its place. While the company has not released any stats about the projector, several news websites have taken the liberty to look at the projector themselves. The projector is supposed to display onto a 40” screen, but in order to do so; the room has to be fairly dark. The projector is mounted to display from the side of the phone, which means the user can still use the QWERTY keyboard while the projector is running.

I seen the video unboxing the expo. My question and I know it will be weeks before the pico projector is released when I slide the cover to let the presentation the the cover itself act as a power switch and does the module run off of it own battery or cell phone battery. You may have better luck than me in finding out.

From what it looks like from what I've seen of the phone I think it runs on the phone's battery, but I don't think we can be sure until the projector is released.
