Incase anyone asks why I was doing this instead of working on trying to get us a flashlight, I've been doing this a few minutes at a time over the weekend, I'll get to updating the flashlight thread this week sometime.  Embarrassed

On to the fun stuff:

I dumped all the original dz's (so this does include the 820 too) and came up with the following

apps.mbn and partition.mbn to my surprise were identical between all three

additionally, dbl.mbn, dsp1.mbn, fsbl.mbn were the same between the 820 and 825 but differed with the 825v

amss.mbn, appsboot, and osbl.mbn differed between all three (and flash.bin obviously)

For the actual contents of the roms I left the 820 out of my comparison, because (1) it's rom was older than the IQ's (2) the 825v is likely closer to the 825 and (3) I have an 825 Wink

SYS is primarily the same (excluding the language specific stuff)
Of interest, the 825v ships with .netcf 3.5 instead of 2.0, and it's versions of flashlite and IE were different ... I assume this too is due to languages, but I haven't bothered digging deeper yet.

The 825v has the following exclusive drivers

oemdrivers\csvt.dll
oemdrivers\dialerext.dll
oemdrivers\QC_QVPAudio*
oemdrivers\QVideoPhone.exe
oemdrivers\VTDriver.dll
oemdrivers\VTMSDriver
oemdrivers\VTProtocol*.dll
oemdrivers\winqvpimgsource.dll
oemdrivers\DcvsController.lnk (the exe exists on the IQ, but no lnk) - i included it here mostly to remind myself to look up what it is. Wink

There were a considerable amount of differences between the rest of the drivers as well. Some stuff that was blatantly third party was the same, but the 825v has

different audio and video
oemdrivers\libEGL
oemdrivers\libGLESv1_CM.dll (but not libGLES_CM.dll they are same)
oemdrivers\libGLESv2.dll
oemdrivers\libgsl*.dll
oemdrivers\libOpenVG.dllfiles
oemdrivers\d3dm_ati.dll
as well as camera, jpeg encoder/decoder, ds audio stuff and others

other potentially interesting dlls that have changed between the two roms are

oemdrivers\msm7x00_usbfn*.dll
oemdrivers\serialusbfn*.dll
oemdrivers\touch.dll
oemdrivers\accelsensor.dll

and more "low level" type files

oemdrivers\qc*.dll
oemdrivers\oncprc.dll
oemdrivers\remote_apis_*.dll
oemdrivers\routmgr.dll
oemdrivers\rpc_daemon.dll

I just barely glanced at oemmisc, I noticed a couple of "exclusive" apps that weren't SBP
ASPlayer.exe
Autoprofile.exe
anyone that's running the port care to enlighten us as to their use?

The 825v also includes the two (what I consider) suspicious dlls that the 825 doesn't
oemmisc\logger.dll
oemmisc\urlcatch.dll

That's all for now ....

ASPlayer is ArcSoft Streaming Media Player - allows you to stream video from a URL.

AutoProfile is a data provisioning control panel app - OEMDrivers contains the network settings for several carriers (XML format).  This app allows the user to select their carrier and auto configure their data, MMS, Browser and bookmarks based on that carrier.
