Any of the IQ ROMs in this post will have the flashing software included:

http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-rom-development/dragonstorm-23559-rom/msg4255/#msg4255

If you're flashing a different ROM than the one included in the package, make sure to replace the .dz file in LGMOBILEAX\Phone and also rename the .dz entry in LGMOBILEAX\Smartphone Setup\SPconfig so that it is the same as the name of the ROM you want to flash.

"cannot detect smartphone message" keeps displaying....

What to do?

Tried various combos...

Also, do I follow instructions in thread "hot to flash rom" or the instructions that the program states - mainly, do i lock phone prior to connecting USB cable or slide out keyboard and press spacebar or both?

The phone must be in Emergency Download Mode in order to communicate with the flashing utility. To get your phone into emergency download mode, it must first be off. With the phone off, slide out the keyboard and hold the space bar, while still doing that, plug in the USB cable that is already attached to your PC.

Hi,

I am trying to flach my LG eXpo With v5 on a windows XP Comp running as aministrater and I have also removed all virus software and disabled the firewall

When I click start update, the LG User support tool window that tell me what image version I am installing is blank, I click ok and i get a window open LG?? S/W Upgrade and tells me header.gif can not be found. I click ok. The Phone upgrade window comes up and where there should be text its just all question marks. Then I get a pop up window again LG Huh S/W Upgrade, telling me dot.gif image not found, then another pop up Server Error with just aload more question marks and an OK button. From there the install stops and i have to guess what button is for exit the program. I have checked the Images that it tells me are missing and they are there.... the install gets to about 34% and stops.... Please tell me I haven't killed my phone... and what am I doing wrong...

Cheers...

I realize that but cannot get it into Emergency Download Mode.

Actually, when you slide the keyboard out phone automatically comes on. But...I've tried it both ways - with the phone on and turned it off again after sliding keyboard out (then pressing space bar & inserting USB cable).

Just so I know. With the phone off and keyboard slid out, when I have spacebar pressed and insert USB cable, the phone automatically comes on and goes to "phone mode". Is this what supposed to happen?

Tried again this AM and still no Emergency Download Mode...

Thanks for those who've tried to help (and apologies for post in a couple of different threads - just really frustrated...)

you say the phone comes on when you slide the keyboard out? that is unusual. Maybe try taking out the battery and perform the steps, that way the phone wont be getting any power until you plug in the USB cable. it may be worth a try, then you can slide the battery back in.

You got the phone into emergency download mode? Then ran the fasher. You say your on xp. try right clicking and go to properties and see if there is an option to ALWAYS RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. You could always try to re-download, sometimes you just get a bad download.

Ok my previous post was when I was at work using an XP computer, I am now at home and am using a Win7 Computer. This time I get past the analysing the computer screen which is what it was crashing on at work using the XP computer. I now get to the next screen where it is installing to the phone. It first stopped at 4% told me to remove the battery and try again so I did, Then it got to 10% and told me to remove the battery again and then it got to 25% and told me communication error and to quit and turn my phone on to finish the update. I have re-run it and now it just stops at 4%. I am going to down load it again encase of a corrupt download and try again but I think I will try the OEM 1 first... I turned my phone on and I just get the emergency download screen.... arrhhhhh  I will beat this phone....
Thanks again.

Hooray, I finally got to 100% after downloading it again. But still 5 or 6 times would only get to 4% or 25% I even re-installed the drivers for the phone, I have a sneaky suspicion that my computer kept dropping the connection... I have to say this ROM is looking sweet,  No more will I need a sodding stylus just to select OK. Love the work Dark. I will have a play around now and hope all the problems I had previously have gone also.

Regards,

Solidsquare.
