Hi everyone, new IQ user here. I'm trying to flash my IQ with the v10g eXpo rom, since IQ hasn't received the update yet. However the 3 methods I tried all failed. Can anyone help me out?

First I tried to flash Dark's Dragonstorm - 23139 - eXpo, and it failed at 4%.

Then I tried to use http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/Resources/GW820AT-01-V10g-310-410-APR-16-2010+0.exe , but got blue screen between 20% and 30%.

Then I tried to use this IQ stock rom flasher: http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-rom-development/re-install-base-rom/msg8588/#msg8588
Before flashing, I replaced the dz file with the one from GW820AT-01-V10g-310-410-APR-16-2010+0.exe
It went to about 20% - 20%, then phone restarted and froze at the windows logo. The flasher continued on then reported success, even though the flashing didn't actually complete..

Right now I have no problem flashing "Dragonstorm - 23139 - IQ" and the IQ V10c stock rom.

Has anyone successfully flashed IQ with v10g? Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

HI Volf, welcome to the forums.

About flashing, it can be tricky indeed as you found out already.

Only thing I can add is, make sure you turn off your Anti-virus, an Microsoft security essentials, turn off user accout control and run the initial part of the installer as administrator.

Then it should fly, if you have already installed the LG usb drivers, which will install on their own, though when flashing an it installs it messes things up an you need to start all over.

About flashing a stock rom, i can't help you, never have gone back to stock rom, and can't see myself ever going back to that hot mess of a rom.

If non of this helps, only thing i can suggest is to read through most of the dragonstorm rom thread for tips that have worked for others.

Hope you get it.

Enjoy your phone an the forums when you get a chance.

Peace

WR

Thanks WarRaven. Have you been able to flash to any v10g rom? e.g. Dark's eXpo rom? If so, could you tell me how you flashed it so I can try do it your way?

Honestly I don't remember when the V10G roms flasher came into play, though since then it allowed us to be able flash using Vista where as it was not possible before that from what I was told.

It was another on the forum that made the break through and I followed through with a similiar experience.

Honestly, I would suggest the newest roms of Darks for best operation, as he is always looking to improve things inside, and about the roms. Like on earlier roms, the keypad dialer tones did not work until Dark mixed in parts of the LG Fathom dialer an bam he got it up an working again.

The 23139 is by far the best rom of darks imo at this point an is what I am running myself now.

I am using a IQ as well and really quite happy with it.

And for as how I flash, just like I mentioned in the prior post, I turn off User account control, A/V an MSSE and run as Admin Always, I install and make sure the flasher is reading the proper rom to flash an let it.
(If you have to stop in between or need to restart a flash, go into Windows(Vista/XP) folder options an select to show hidden files an folders, then goto Users/All users an reselect the flash program or to delete the folder an re-install the flasher program there, thats where it resides on your pc)
Unless you see where I missed something, tell me as thats all I do, and its golden.

I thought you meant you found after running a succesful flash you were up an running to flash what you wanted?

Hope some of this helps.

Umm I'm a bit confused.
This is my understanding:

23139 IQ Rom is based on the latest IQ base-rom. i.e. v10c
23139 eXpo Rom is based on the latest eXpo base rom. i.e. v10g

v10g is better than v10c since it has newer drivers, less bugs etc.
so 23139 eXpo rom is better than 23139 IQ rom?

I believe the Expo and IQ ROMs Dark makes are based on the V10g. What he does is add registry tweaks and subtracts a lot of the crap that comes pre-installed as well as many other things to free up memory and allow the phone to run quicker. He has updated the windows from 6.5 to 6.5.3. He also ported the Chinese version of the GPS drivers because they work better. Overall i feel you will have a much better IQ experience with Darks ROM.

All the details of what he puts in and what he leaves out can be found in his Dragonstorm Thread.

I mentioned that they are based off of the V10G flasher, what winds up inside is Damn near identical except for things like how they connect to their respective networks an and the software that comes bundled for each phone.
Expo gets Sprite back up, IQ does not.
Other then things like that, they are the same.

And both are based off of the V10G flasher so everyone can flash whether your on Vista or not where as before the V10G, Vista people could not flash thier phones with the stock flasher.

There is Fathom parts in there, chinese rom rom parts as Baltogok mentions but otherwise, neither has a leg up on the other, an you can't use the Expo if you have a IQ, you won't be able to connect to the network an vice versa.

Curious, did you stop an read darks comments an such in his Dragonstorm thread?

I flashed the 23139 IQ rom, and it says system information says it's v10c..

And quite clearly, it is not a stock rom is it?

Start menu is moved, it has a new dialer, it comes with Net CF 3.7 etc...

The system ID is irrelevent, kind of like how LG treats a phone once its released.

If you have it flashed, your golden.
