Rather than cluttering the Dragonstorm thread I figured I'd put a placeholder up.

Incase the few people interested in trying to find this rom don't read xda I'm cross posting this here.

Can90 managed to get me a network capture to look through, unfortunately it doesn't contain a reference to the stock rom. I assume this is because LG just hasn't uploaded it yet.

For anyone that wants to play with URLs to try and find it, this is the relevant portion of the response to lg's updater app.

<model>LGVS750SS</model>
<suffix>AVRZDB</suffix>
<sw_version />
<sw_url />
<sw_locale_url>/</sw_locale_url>
<sw_recommand_uri>AIC/GLOBAL</sw_recommand_uri>
<app_version />
<app_url />
<cs_em_flag>N</cs_em_flag>
<cs_em_uri>N</cs_em_uri>
<chip_type />

normally sw_url and sw_locale_url would have what we want, but they're empty  Cry

I've got a Fathom and want to get to the point where I can load a custom ROM onto it.  I'm happy to provide help here, and am interested in pointers to any information on how to go about getting a kitchen set up.

Thx!

Hi Mcnee, Welcome to the forums.

That is excellent news, Hopefully someone can help hook you up too.

I know we want a couple software features from the fathom, that are pretty cool.

Myself, I don't know enough to be able to assist.

Thank you though, from a LG bro to another.

Is yours the Verizon version (are there any others?) ? Is it  V4_00 too? If not, can you do the following:

Install Microsoft's Network Monitor** (its free - netmon from now on, im lazy ) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Close all your browser windows, instant messenger, email, anything that uses the network should be stopped while you do this.

Start netmon, and tell it to capture all the traffic on your network card.

Then start the lg-updater program (get it from lg directly), and have it check for updates for your phone.

Go back to network monitor and stop capturing traffic when it's done.

You can then either browse through the captured traffic in netmon directly, and see if you can find a url yourself (it'll be an exe or kdz file) or send me the capture file and I'll take a look.

**If you're familiar with wireshark you could use that instead of netmon.

Someone at XDA found the ROM here:

http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGVS750/AVRZDB/VS750ZV5_06/VS750ZV5_06.SV5_06.P58006.R5.cab

Tools/instructions to manipulate this type of file are here:

http://www.mylgarena.com/index.php?topic=973.msg5644#msg5644

Make sure to download the posted file Inf_WebDnld.dll

Good luck, I can't get past the command line prompt Tongue

I hadn't seen that thread previously, but it's essentially the same as what I'd found elsewhere.

I haven't been able to find anything that successfully works with the wdb. What do you mean you can't get past the command line prompt?  Have you had more success than I?

Technically speaking the LG Utils program should do what we need...my procedure went thusly:
1. Hit H to open to the wdb dump tool
2. Type in the location of Inf_WebDnld.dll making sure to respect capitalization
3. Type in the location of the wdb file itself.
4. Type in the ROM version -- have tried both the one listed on XDA as well as the one that another LG tool spits out (it's the exact same as the wdb file name, minus "wdb" of course).

 At this point I either get an error "Merged file open fail! Where is your image file to download into phone" or it seems to succeed but does not produce the expected folder.

I've experienced the same thing. Sad

I've noticed that the 'seems to succeed' only happens after the initial fail, so I've taken to quitting and restarting each time. This consistently gives me that error.

The wdh lists the bin as VS750ZV5_06.bin
so I tried that, and VS750ZV5, and V5_06 and a bunch of other combinations/variations, none were successful.

Sadly enough this is the same thing that happens to me. I have also tried numerous variations. I noticed that this is an upgrade to the version that came stock on the fathom. da_reeseboy has version VS750ZV4 and the cab file is version VS750ZV5. I'm wondering if there is someone with a fathom that might be willing to try upgrading and looking in the LGMOBILEAX folder for the rom before exiting the upgrade program.

That's too bad.  I just came back from vacation last night and noticed the post on XDA.  I got all excited, but I see we are not there yet.

A few folks on PPC Geeks have Fathoms and have upgraded to V5.  It appears that the cab is copied to the phone and installed directly from the CAB.

da_reeseboy dumped his Fathom rom. So far I have managed to port the dialer to the eXpo. I am having a bit of trouble with the keyboard though. I had to hard reset my phone because something went wrong. For those interested in the Dialer I attached a cab. For those interested in the Fathom dump here is the link:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7559317&postcount=20

I am planning on releasing a new rom with some new features and fixes; and the dialer in it. I want to try and get the keyboard ported before I do though.

EDIT: I have also ported the sensor settings menu from the Fathom. It will allow you to turn the accel sensor, Luminous Sensor, and Proximity Sensor on and off at will. Attached is a cab. You will find the sensor setting in settings>system. It is called Sensor. I haven't been able to get the part on the Accel sensor that changes the orientation of the screen without turning on the accel sensor, but the accel sensor on and off function works fine. After installing this the LG menu won't be needed anymore.

installed and like the sensor settings, but wouldn't the lg menu still be needed for the biometric scanner?

Sweet work gang....

Hoping Dark can make use of the nifty fathom lock screen program too.

Oddly enough there is a separate program called LGPhoneSettings in the windows folder that will give us the options needed for the biometric scanner. Now the only thing the LG menu will be needed for is for the Screen Output settings and the Touch feedback settings which most of us probably don't even touch. I'm thinking that I'm going to add a shortcut for LGPhoneSettings and leave the LG Menu, but move it to the tools folder so it is out of the way.
