There is something peculiar about this ROM.  The specs on the 825V are identical to our 820/825s, so the drivers should work, but there are issues.

I tried just using the OEMDriversHigh, and it flashed and started fine.  The phone is functional (making receiving calls), but there is a problem creating a data connection.

If you use the OEMDrivers you need to change this value before the screen will work....
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH]
    "DriverName"="hwtouch.dll"

change to touch.dll

hwtouch.dll is located in SYS\Base_Lang_0404, so unless you include the 0404 SYS (or copy the dll into your OEM), you will have problems.

In the end, I was able to port the ROM over to English, but there are major issues.  The phone takes 6 minutes to boot and once it does, the phone is not functional (making/receiving calls) and activesync doesn't work.  Surprisingly, GPS works.

I didn't port over the XIP, so I guess I will try that next.

Well I have spent enough time on this, I guess I will have to give up for now.  Sad

I was excited by some of the changes I noticed in the registry and Dark's comment about additional free program memory, but the code isn't co-operating.

I tried porting the XIP, but I couldn't even get it to boot.  Perhaps once some more people play with it I will have another look.

UPDATE 2: Here is the link:
Dragonstorm 23568 - GW25V Only

Now  I Am downloading it. I will give a try and immediately let you know.Thank you sooooo Much Dark.

No problem. Looking forward to hearing if it works. I was able to flash the Hong Kong rom after rebuilding it. The Flash.bin inside the base rom was broken into several parts. That's why I couldn't flash it without deconstructing and then reconstructing it. I tried to port English to it since I noticed that program memory is at 99 MB with the Titanium plugin running, but it keeps making the phone freeze before it can boot for the first time. I'm probably going to play with the rom a little more tomorrow.

Hello Dark, do you mean that you flash the rebuilt Hong Kong rom to GW820 sucessfully. I want to flash a Hong Kong rom to my GW820. Could you post this rebuilt Hong Kong rom? Thanks.

He posted the reconstructed base rom for the 825V here:

http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-rom-development/re-how-to-flash-your-expoiq/msg5763/#msg5763

That should be the Hong Kong rom that will work on the 820.

I posted it a few posts back. I like some of the stuff that was included in it. Too bad I'm having trouble porting English to it. Like trueg I too tried to port the XIP and it wouldn't boot. When I just tried to port English i ran into too many problems and the 6 minute boot time like trueg did. One weird thing I noticed was that when I deconstructed the base rom, Flash.bin was seperated into several files and DZDecrypt merged them. I'm wondering if that may be causing hared the problems flashing the reconstructed and custom roms. I hope we will be able to solve hared's problem.

Dark, did you notice the Band setting control panel applet in OEMMisc?  Not sure why it wasn't included in the eXpo/IQ, but better late than never.  Cheesy

Once installed it shows up in \Settings\Personal\Phone

Update: I tried my cab on a stock IQ ROM and some of the text was not showing up correctly.  Turns out I needed to include LGString.dll as well as LGString.dll.0409.mui.  I have updated the cab attached to this post.

I really didn't look through the OEMMISC yet. Been busy. Nice to know though and thanks for including a cab. I'm on vacation next week so I was going to look through the OEMMISC then.

Finally I can flash my Expo to use this chinese rom. Thanks all guys for helping me. I found that this UI of GW825 is better than that of Expo. Many setting tabs are included but not found in expo.

Could anyone make LGcamera cab for sharing since I found that the camera of this chinese rom has more functions than the original rom of Expo.

May I ask what settings in particular?

Also, I am using the camera from this ROM on my phone, what additional functions are you referring to?

thanks,

Just wondering which files you needed to get the camera working and what are the differences between our camera and this one?

I haven't seen any differences myself, but there are several things to consider with the camera.

In order to get the camera to start properly and take pictures/videos you need:
Camcorder_intro_horizontal.png
Camera_Exit_horizontal.png
Camera_intro_horizontal.png
HiveEngine_rel.dll
LG_VideoRenderer.dll
LGCamera.exe
LGCamera.swf
LgeMViewerDll.dll
LGPhotoAlbumDll.dll

If you want the correct font used for the full screen warning at the beginning you need:
LG_GothicNR_Monaco_0706.ttf (or LG_GothicNR_EXP.ttf I can't remember)

If you want to use the rename function (after you take a picture) you need a bunch of image files (not sure which ones yet).

If you want to use the Picture Gallery (bottom right button) you need a whole whack of files (I don't have the full list yet, but I'm close).

The one part I haven't figured out yet is the left hand menu that comes up after you take a picture.  You get the options Send, Use and Rename.  For some reason the the words don't fit.  It doesn't appear to be font related, but it might be.
