My knowledge of cooking ROMs is limited so forgive me if this sounds impossible.
Is it possible to make a "Lite" ROM with all apps removed, then create cab files of all the removed apps so users can pick and choose their own customizations. I think this would be  great if it can be done.

Though isn't that what Dark has already done here, I mean we have oodles more space then the stock rom.

Dark has put up the link for the 70+ mb of stuff he pulled out already.

I am not sure what else could be removed, Shy of calculator an calenders and such?

Is there something in particular that you are referring to and I am totally overlooking?

I didn't notice that there were cabs available to reinstall individual items. I've only saw what was removed from the original ROM. My Bad if I missed them somewhere.

got a few suggestions i think:
i know the keyboard issue was mentioned a while back on this forum. and i know i ran into every once in a while with the stock rom. but with this new rom i seem to run into the problem where when you open a text or email the space to actually type in is below the keyboard and you can't see it, until you close the keyboard and open it back up again *sometimes it takes a few tries*.
I've really been enjoying swype over the last week and i'm getting much faster and more used to it. the only problem is with this keyboard issue i literally can't see the area to type in at all... i have to completely switch back to the xt9 keyboard close it. open it again. and then switch BACK to swype just to type a message.. not just every once in a while.. nearly every time.. and i've hard reset the new rom twice and just installed swype and sip change 1.1 same results every time... it's increasingly frustrating as i send A LOT of txt's and emails every day.. it does the same thing with fingkeyb2.1 *btw i do realize that i got a phone with a physical keyboard which i still use a lot as well... i just like one handed operation while driving Smiley*

One other suggestion i have is for Dark.. you enabled your missing sounds and notifications in your new rom which is excellent. it even gives you the option for sms sent notification ... and you can un-check display message on screen and play sound.. this doesn't however remove the notification from displaying a sms icon in the taskbar.. which still kinda annoys me.. a simple reg key can be changed to avoid the sound the on screen message and the icon without ever opening sounds and notifications HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INBOX/SETTINGS/SMSNOSENT 0 to 1 fixed

i also had an issue with upgarding my s2u2 to 2.40.. even rite after a hard reset the install just hangs.. i was able to get 2.34 installed but 2.40 won't install over it... it's weird.. and i need more time to play with why it isn't working.. i'm just typing out loud now.. er wait.. is it thinking out loud .......?

Glownlow, I don't see where that Dark used his "Sounds an notifications Fix" on my ROM(23563), though the setting to disable sent sms was there, the MMS options were not till I added Dark's fix, then had to reset the sound options again.

About S2U2, I am using the older 2.30 without fault, lol, I should have looked for an update, A.C. is great for continued work on the app, what a trooper, I'll try the newer version later and see if it griefs me too.

he many not have used the sounds and notifications fix.. i may have just thought so since they were there.. but i guess this is a new updated version of 6.5 what i was really getting at is *happend in the oem rom too* even if you disable show message on screen and play sound.. it still gives you an additional sms icon in taskbar after sending an sms.. doesn't stay there long. but i do see it.. the reg edit i posted solves this . completely. might not be important to everyone i was just trying to share.

and i'm going to try downloading 2.40 again i think my installer got corrupted b/c it just hangs ... all the other versions installed fine except 2.40.. and i'm actually looking forward to trying that update. esp with the new animated weather pack i found for s2u2.. alas.. they don't show up till we get touchFLO in a rom. i haven't got s2u2 to pick up weather info from anything other than toucFLO yet. there's a tut somewhere on xda on how to do it manually from some file you create but it looked complicated and i was feeling lazy that day. i havent gone back to find it since then..

Thanks!

Yeah it should show up once, then go away after selecting it, at least it did on both ROMs I tried, odd indeed.

If it wasn't for some funniness here an there, life would be boring I'd say  Cheesy

Sure Megatec, OEM packages

Now the OEM packages are just the stock OEM. It isn't a cab. If people want cabs someone is going to have to make them using the files from the OEM.

My bad, I looked in there briefly and assumed after seeing a few names and assumed cabs.

I see now they have to be assembled.

Sorry Megatec.
