I just got my IQ back from Telus. I was having a wonderul problem... my phone would reboot during phone calls. Nothing too majpr, but I thought I should get it checked out to be sure (Major sarcasm in this post)
I called telus to see if they knew of any updates... none, but there were reports of an ongoing battery issue (According to the rep anyways) so I should send it in to have it repaired. So $25, and a few weeks later I get my phone back, and a warranty workorder/record that shows they upgraded the software.
Now, I cant see any difference in the version numbers (mind you I didnt think to record any of them before I sent it out) but the rom is still V10C.
So, here is what I am wondering. If there is a patch or upgrade in there somewhere, how do  check to know? How do I dump the ROM so that any changes can be compared and integrated into the community ROM's? and lastly are they trying to feed me a bunch of BS to get me off their backs untill the warranty period runs out?

I would honestly say, it's a load of hog wash.

They just replaced the unit in my opinion an added that line to make themselves feel better for charging you for this service an so you don't freak out on them.

There is no software patch from LG to address this issue you had that I can see, not on the Telus site either, So where is this patch they applied?
Is it only available if you send your phone to Big T an get charged for it?
(Rhetorically an sarcastically said)

What if, you need to Hard-Reset, then what, as there is no ROM upgrade, it'll be wiped and lost.

This patch should have been applied by them in the first place before releasing it into the wild an secondly in any case where it is deemed an issue with their users on their network.

Big Telus like any other has a hard time admitting faults an standing behind their products.

Aside from the points the venerable WR raises, a lot of phone companies will claim little things like a PRL update are a "software update"

It's also possible they just did a hard reset or something and it passed all their qc tests ... is it definitely the same phone you had before (same imei/esn)?

if you still want to dump the contents you should be able to use pdocread and then diff the result with a stock rom

Well the two times my IQ has been in to TELUS (With warranty) It came back with some software changes...

The one main thing I noticed is that once back from TELUS the TELUS Homepage in internet explorer actually showed up...Where as after flashing the official LG ROM from online...gone.... It is probably a load of tiny little things that dont change much at all.

One more thing, TELUS actually DOES repair them, not replace... When I got mine back from a screen issue, they redid the entire top half, but the bottom half still had very distinct marks I remember.

WarRaven - Thats what I figured, but I want to make sure before I call them. I want to have a little undeniable proof if you know what I mean.

MrPants - The phone is the same unit... unless they took the time to change out the guts of the phone, because my unit has the same scratches it had when it left. But as I said I didnt record the details of the phone... I was naieve and didn't thing I would get this level of BS.

So when I get a moment I will dump the ROM and diff the resuts to see if there are any significant changes.

I suppose Telus could have upgraded their radio software, though I really doubt it.

And in Erics case, Mine has always opened their MyTelus page, right from the start.(The redirect is very slow an easy to see)

Anything we say, will not be taken with any weight by Telus, keep that in mind. (Ignorance is bliss)

Anyhow, looking forward to hear if you find any differences in the radio(Cell) software.

Wait there actually is a radio problem with the stock ROM on IQ? So that mean my phone reception was working, it was just the ROM?....

Please do explain or show proof as all I see is a network getting loaded down by new users.
I used to have my speed test in my signature here on the forums, was 6Mb down, now I am lucky if I see 1.5 down.
Same goes for the Android handset in my house, so I am pretty sure its the network having issues.

But I am all ears to hear your input on this and or be shown a cure.

WR

Edit to add, My feelings on this are based on Perplexity in his statement that his phone, is still on V10C, if it had been flashed to V10G, I'd be in a different mindset over this.
