Hi people, we haven't had any new Dragonstorm Roms since April 10. I think the lg expo has a lot of unused potential.

And WM7 SUCKS because of:
No system-wide file manager
No Bluetooth file transfers
No USB mass storage mode
Limited third-party apps availability
No Flash (nor Silverlight) support in the browser
Too dependent on Zune software for file management and syncing
No video calls
New ringtones available only through the Marketplace
Music player lacks equalizer presets
No multitasking
No copy/paste
No DivX/XviD video support (automatic transcoding provided by Zune software)
No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far
No internet tethering support
No handwriting recognition support

so I am not buying a new phone with no external storage card. It looks like all new wm7 phones have that limitation. So I guess I'll have to switch to Android. Does any of you guys have a recomendation?

Bottom line what happens why is it that we don't have any new Roms for our Expo? I;m bored lol

The last Dragonstorm rom was actually in October. Unfortunately there aren't many LG Expo users around anymore which has resulted in rom development dwindling. My advice would be to learn how to cook your own roms so that you can update to the latest builds of winmo 6.5.3 if you want updates, that's what I have been doing so far. Dark and many other users have lots of information in this forum on how do it.

Hi people, we haven't had any new Dragonstorm Roms since April 10. I think the lg expo has a lot of unused potential.

And WM7 SUCKS because of:

There's no WM7 yet Wink

However, WP7 does have a few soft spots.

No system-wide file manager

The limited file types is kind of harsh, but the office hub works well for what it is

No Bluetooth file transfers

I've never had a need to do this in the last 5 years, but I'm in IT so I always have better suited devices available to me.

No USB mass storage mode
This I can see being an issue for people, I've got at least half a TB in my laptop bag in various forms, so again, not something I really cared about.

There are rumous that MS' internal/demo units do support this and things like video out, so there is hope WP7 will see it at some point, at least for "parts" of the file system.

Limited third-party apps availability

If you say 'theres no angry birds' you lose all credibility. Wink
The marketplace is somewhere around 6k apps at the moment, but with a three month old platform, that's not unexpected. There's actually a lot of good stuff on there already, but obviously if it lacks something you need it's a no go.

No Flash (nor Silverlight) support in the browser

Both are supposedly coming. No timeframe on Flash and Silverlight isn't coming until the next major update which is going to be 9 months out Sad

Too dependent on Zune software for file management and syncing

As opposed to activesync? Honestly, the Zune experience has been a lot less painful than I thought it was going to be.

No video calls

I'm too old for this to make any sense. Wink

New ringtones available only through the Marketplace

Even that would be better than what options are available now. There's only what came on the device available to you at the moment. Sad

Music player lacks equalizer presets

If you're an audiophile, the only wp7 phone you'd want is the surround, and from what I've seen it's got that covered.

No multitasking

There is the ability for things such as music to play in the background, or apps to "run under lock"

No copy/paste

This is the only thing I truly miss. I've still only wanted it a half dozen times and I'll have it in a couple of weeks so I was willing to live with it. Smiley

No DivX/XviD video support (automatic transcoding provided by Zune software)

I don't know why people want to watch stuff on their phones, but if it is converted so that it plays, what's the issue? The time it takes to convert? Loss of quality?

No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far

Hilariously both the iphone and droid bing apps are ahead of the WP7 one in several way. They claim they'll be putting up a better wp7 effort in the coming months.

No internet tethering support

Tethering apparently works on all phones that are available at the moment. It requires a trip into a hidden menu to enable it, but it works.

No handwriting recognition support

Worse than that, there's no "notes" program natively (and definitely no outlook notes sync). Evernote and friends are apparently coming soon, but learning that was definitely a disappointment.

so I am not buying a new phone with no external storage card. It looks like all new wm7 phones have that limitation. So I guess I'll have to switch to Android. Does any of you guys have a recomendation?

I replaced my IQ with an Optimus7 and haven't looked back. It gets better reception, better battery life (with heavier usage) and is actually enjoyable to use.

If you want a droid phone, either make sure it's rootable or make sure your carrier/manufacturer combination aren't going to bone you with slow/lame upgrades. (e.g. pushing an update from 1.6 to 2.1 when 2.2 is months old)

Droid has soo many choices that it's more about picking the feature set you want.

Bottom line what happens why is it that we don't have any new Roms for our Expo? I;m bored lol

I second the suggestion to make your own roms. Its not that difficult if you're willing to do a bit of reading. There are a few people still around here that have cooked privately, so I'm sure you wouldn't need to be alone in your efforts.

It was born dead platform and maintains a height of only (old time), and Bill Gates' money.

Is still so you think,
by international sales of the phone says something else.
It is also very important that you connect when you want and with whatever you want.
It is also very important to have your SDHC card in the phone and that you are its owner.
It is very important that everyone who wants to can make a program and set it where they want on the internet and not just "over them."
It is also very important that you yourself trimmed yours phone it is nice to you and not to them. Because you are doing on it and not "they."
Now Windows Phone will destroy Nokia.
For every installation you have to just "through them" for stupidity illiterate.
For each installation, must be registration the same nonsense.
This is the iPhone become nonsense.
For each page of interneta new program.
app for borsato
app for the BBC
app telegraaf
aap cnn
app paul
app for this or that
Full phone applications and programs, and what and how later.
Each web site that has own the application, sheer stupidity.
