Is it going to be possible to run this on the LG Expo? I have heard of the HD2 already having a working copy. I cant confirm that though right now. Some google searching needed.

The specs for the newly released ATT WM7 phones are very similar to the expo, the only problem may be with the internal memory as the newer phones have 8GB + ?

I would love a windows 7 ROM for my Expo.

It has been discused, and for the life of me I can't find it becasue I think its barried in an off topic tread. But I think the biggest deal breaker for the port was not so much the memory, but the lack of muli-touch support on the phone. I know there is some interest from some of us to have it ported, but really the only one here I know that could attempt and has shown any kind of intrest is Dark.

I offered to have his baby, others said they would give him their first born if he could find a way to port wp7 to the expo. Here's to hopeing there is a fix.  Grin

The biggest issue with porting IMO would be the input issue.

WP7 is designed for capcitive screens with multitouch (ie pinch to zoom on ie). To port it over we would need the drivers for our resistive screen and probably some code changes to allow single touch input only.

Given that we can't even get a working copy of android on the phone, I find it unlikely we will get WP7 up and running.

Sorry to be a party pooper. I would like somebody to prove me wrong though.

If my significant other doesn't want my IQ in a months time (The allure of xbox live on my phone is irresistable so I'm almost certainly going to a win7 phone ... even without copy/paste for six months) I'm going to ask around xda and see if someone smart will take a shot at making droid work on it if I ship them the phone.

Well it looks like the new phones are using the same SoC solution as our phone, an other then storage memory, they are identical.

Though, we've no Windows key or search, I see no reason our other keys couldn't be adapted easy enough.

May have more life in our phones then we realize no matter what MS has said in the past.

Peace

Hey guys if you want Windows 7 but you don't want to miss your eXpo:

http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_quantum-3558.php

It's like an improved version of the Expo, it has Windows 7, and pretty much the same features of our expo, the screen (I think) it's a little bigger, and it has 16 gb of storage. Well it's about time to upgrade and we all g33ks want Windows 7.

I might change my phone sometime next year, to get a second revision of the hardware and to let Windows 7 mature a bit. If you guys think about it, the Expo is the best phone we've had by far and there are no new features interesting enough to rush and make a change. Maaaaybe in about 6 months we could see some interesting videogames but who knows. And also I don't think we're going to be seeing Win7 in this phone because of the lack of multitouch, and because it's a business to force us to buybuybuy. Better hang on ok

It has no memory card slot. My 16 GB card is nearly full and doesn't have the OS or any apps on it.

probably just for multi-touch

not to many resistive multi-touch screens out in the world.

now only if MS allowed for an upgrade path for phones powerful enough... i can only dream of a wp7 device with a projector.... without having to buy a new phone

I guess until one of us actually upgrades to the new OS it will be hard to figure if we can get by withough the pinch to zoom function on the phone. I know IE doesnt have any zoom button to push its all pinch to zoom, just like bing maps.

Is there anyone in this forum with the know how to make a work around for this?

There is the Double-tap to zoom, IDK if it will work in place, though we will find out in time I guess.

This is a possibility. I really hope that this can happen. It would save us all quite a bit of money from the upgrade. (If we choose to) Im trying to convince my wife to take my expo so i can get a new WP7. Shes always bitching about he crappy phone with no data plan, lol.
